Puerto Aventuras is a quiet alternative to the noisy and more crowded
Playa del Carmen. It is centrally located, has an international
selection of restaurants and is safe - with a 24-hour security patrol.
All the restaurants use bottled water and purified ice. Activities
include golf, tennis, and diving and there are a few small shops
selling local crafts, a pharmacy and two small grocery stores. Puerto
Aventuras features a golf course and an eclectic collection of shops,
   restaurants and clubs.

Puerto's deep water marina is a safe haven for sailors cruising the
Caribbean, sport fishermen and larger yachts as well. It is the only
mainland marina facility between Cancun and Belize City and there is a
   customs office as well.

Within Puerto Aventuras, activities center around the picturesque
commercial center on the marina. Here you will find numerous
   boutiques, 12 restaurants, 4 bars, a money exchange, 2 pharmacies, a
post office, 3 internet cafes, 3 convenience stores, bank machine,
snorkel tours, 2 tour operators, car rental agency, 3 dive shops,
maritime museum, gym, spa, fishing charters, catamaran day trips,
parasailing and the Dolphin Discovery program where you can swim with
   dolphins.

From thePuerto Aventuras central district you can move out within
walking distance to find 2 white sand beaches with bountiful reefs
just off shore, kayak and snorkel rentals, picturesque deepwater marina,
challenging 9 hole golf course (a hidden gem) and tennis courts.

If you need to stay in touch with the rest of the world, Puerto
Aventuras has internet, fax and telephone services. There is a doctor
on call, 24 hour security patrol, and guarded gated entrance for your
   peace of mind.

For those flying in to Cancun, the new highway (307) will take you to
Puerto Aventuras, only 40 minutes south of Cancun's International
Airport and 10 minutes south of Playa del Carmen.

Aquaworld offers ferry shuttle service to Cozumel departing from the
   marina daily.

Puerto Aventuras offers travelers the opporunity to swim with the
dolphins, go catamaran sailing, sport fishing, or just swim and sunbathe
at the great beach. The marina has waterfront gift stores, a disco,
swim with the dolphins and a variety of excellent restaurants to
choose from. The Mayan Ruins of Tulum are just 25 minutes south, Playa
Del Carmen 20 minutes to the north and Cancun another 35 minutes
   farther north.

The best of Puerto Aventuras dates from millions of years ago. The
development includes three major protected bays and an inlet all
covered by powder white sand. The main beach area is in the central
part of the resort on Fatima Bay with over 1.5 miles of Beach front
beginning at condomino Chac Hal al and ending at Grand Peninsula.

Chan Yu Yum, a smaller bay to the north of the resort serves
separately for Oasis hotel; an extension of beach was built inland to
   host several smaller bedandbreakfast operations.

minutes north from Puerto Aventuras, park your vehicle and leave it
outside the park, take a bicycle on a path through the dense jungle,
change it for a kayak and row down a natural river through mangrove,
change again for snorkel, mask and fins and explore the reef, then sit
and relax with a fresh ceviche and beer.

   ARCHAEOLOGY:
For those interested in the Mayan Culture, Puerto Aventuras is located
at short distances from some of the most impressive archaeological
sites of the area including Tulum.

   TULUM:
Only 20 minutes away...The only Mayan walled city on the coastline.

<title>Puerto Aventuras Weather and Climate</title>
<description>
Semi-tropical with an average temperature of 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
Average daily maximum and minimum temperatures for Cancún:
   January-March, 68-86°F (20-30°C); April-June, 71-89°F (22-32°C);
   July-September, 75-91°F (24-33°C); October-December, 68-87°F
   (20-31°C).

Cancún has an average of more than 200 sunny days a year and has less
annual rainfall than the Virgin Islands or the Bahamas. You may run
into some rain, overcast weather and days with bothersome wind gusts.
Usually a light breeze blows across the island, keeping things cool.
   The city's temperature averages an idyllic 80°F (27°C) year-round,
dipping painlessly from time to time, hitting 65°F (19°C) in January.
It can swelter to 100°F (38°C) in May, though ocean breezes keep it
more bearable than the rest of the Yucatán, which can get drenchingly
   muggy and hot.

Rainfall is rare, though violent storms called nortes can roll in on
any afternoon, their black clouds, high winds and torrents of rain
followed within an hour by bright sun and blue sky.

Hurricane season lasts from July to November. November and early
December are perhaps the best times to go, as there are fewer tourists
and prices are low. The busy season is from mid-December to April,
when prices are noticeably higher. Surcharges get tacked on around the
Christmas, New Year's and Easter holidays.

<title>Puerto Aventuras Car Rentals and Driving Rules</title>
<description>
Buy Mexican auto insurance! Yeah I know your credit card may cover
some of this in the states but not always in Mexico. If you do get in
an accident it will be worth the few extra bucks you end up paying for
   the insurance.

Driving is on the right hand side of the road just like in the USA. Be
aware that many roads are not in the best of conditions after you
leave Cancun. Though Highway 307 has been improved greatly over the
years beware to the tope! Most secondary roads will not be in good
   condition.

Driving at night should be avoided if possible: cars without lights,
drunk drivers, cows in the road, drunks in the road, no reflective
lines on the highway, potholes, etc. Always be aware of livestock.
Gringos call them "speed bumps", in Mexico they are called tope
(TOE-pay). Tope are common even on some major roads so keep your eyes
on the road as they are nearly invisible but very tall, which can rip
   off your muffler.

There are not a lot of gas stations in the Mayan Riviera. There are
gas stations at Puerto Moreles, Playa del Carmen and Tulum (also one
on the island of Cozumel). To be safe, don't let your tank get down
below 1/4. Credit cards are NOT accepted at PEMEX, the state run gas
   company.
