Arawak Beach Inn - Anguilla (The Valley)

This is a place to relax and unwind, surrounded by all the comforts you will need, in a glorious Caribbean setting. Here nothing is too much trouble and the best place to try this out is at the Arawak's delightful bar and restaurant, where delicious home-cooked breakfasts are served, and throughout the day and into the evening, traditional Caribbean fare, tasty snacks and international cuisine is available.

The Arawak Beach Inn also has its own shop, a must for gifts, cool fashions and those all important sundries you forgot to pack, or new ones to tempt you. When you stay with us on the enchanting island of Anguilla you will be made to feel like part of the family. If it is peace and solitude you are after - then feel free to come and go as you please. Nestling besides picturesque Island Harbour, fronting the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, the Arawak Beach Inn is also an excellent base from which to explore the island of Anguilla, not that you have to venture far for complete relaxation. From the sun terrace and swimming pool there are lovely views to the beach and across the bay. A short walk from the Inn there are two secluded, white sand beaches, both make you feel like a castaway, but if you have forgotten something, you can be back in you room in a few moments!

Less than two minutes by boat you will be on Scilly Cay, a small laid back island escape where you can drop by for lunch and spend the afternoon dozing on a sun bed by the beach after a tasty seafood lunch or the fresh barbecued chicken and salad. If you want to really escape, we will arrange for a day's excursion to deserted Scrub Island with its magnificent and empty beaches. You will be dropped off in the morning with a delicious picnic and plenty to drink and bought back when it suits you.

Anguilla is renown for its glorious beaches, excellent diving (available a stones throw from the Arawak), fine dining and gracious, laid back Caribbean hospitality. A stay at the Arawak Beach Inn allows you to enjoy everything the island has to offer without breaking the bank and most importantly, without compromising on comfort or enjoyment - that we guarantee.
AMENITIES:
ACTIVITIES: Beaches
Anguilla is known for some of the World's best beaches, both on the main Island and on its many uninhabited offshore Cays and Islands. Island Harbour Beach, at the Arawak is tranquil and offers good swimming. Guests can stroll or jog- the beach's several hundred yards length to Island Harbour's Jetty, where fishermen offer fresh fish for sale. . Shoal Bay East, perhaps Anguilla's most famous beach and rated amongst the top ten in the World, is more developed with several restaurants and bars. It is about ten minutes from the Arawak. Other favorites include Sandy Ground, Rendezvous Bay, and, by boat, Little Bay, Sandy Island, and the Prickly Pear Cays. The closest offshore beaches to The Arawak are Scilly Cay (100 yards in front of the Arawak), and our own favorite, Scrub Island. This is about 10 minutes away by boat. It has absolutely fabulous beaches, and usually our guests have them entirely to themselves.

Watersports
Sailboat racing is the National Sport of Anguilla, and Anguillans are great sailors. Sunfish sailing, windsurfing, parasailing and water-skiing are available near the Arawak. Deep sea fishing boats go out from Island Harbour and can collect guests from the Inn.

Diving and Snorkeling
Anguilla is known for some of the best snorkeling and diving in the Caribbean, perhaps because of the large number of shipwrecks. Reef dive sites range from 10-110 feet amongst and are inhabited by tropical fish. The Arawak offers a Dive Package with Shoal Bay Scuba and Watersports, which is located about 5 minutes away. There is excellent Snorkeling in the Sea Grass off the Beach in front of the Arawak where sea Turtles are often seen, and also off the rocks at the end of the Beach. Snorkeling Equipment is available for rental. Arrangements can be made for resort dive courses for beginners, or for PADI certification.

Exploring
Guests may tour the Island either with experienced guides, or in their own rental cars. Both may be arranged in advance or at the Arawak. You may visit some of the oldest plantation houses, relive Anguilla's varied culture and history at the Wardens Place or see The Heritage Collection, a museum of modern history. Then, just relax on one of our many beaches, or stop for lunch at one of our many beach front restaurants and cafes, or luxury hotels. For a special treat, get to a beach on a day that one of Anguilla's many boat races are being held. While you watch elegant beauty of the uniquely crafted sailboats, enjoy the reggae and fun of an all-Island Beach party you will never forget.

Birdwatching
Home to many tropical bird species.

Entertainment
Anguilla thrives on Island Style entertainment. We offer it impromptu style at the Arawak Café, and most restaurants offer live local music for your dining pleasure some nights of the week. Even during the daytime, particularly at weekends, there are often bands playing just for the fun of it. For a more sophisticated experience, LA Café offers a late night disco and entertainment experience most Friday and Saturday nights. Be prepared to see the dawn in.

Shopping
For the savvy shopper, paintings, sculptures, photographs, woodcarvings and other arts and crafts can be found throughout the island. In our many small shops and galleries. The shop at the Arawak offers many island gifts, besides the basic necessities that you may have left at home. Many guests take a day trip to Cosmopolitan St Martin, 30 minutes from Anguilla by regular ferry, where they enjoy the best of French cuisine and Duty Free Shopping.
