<description>
At Sandy Bottoms every room has a view of the water. It is a beautifully furnished, fully air-conditioned 2 bedroom, 2 bath luxury waterfront vacation rental offering all of the amenities of home. Sandy Bottoms is the perfect place to escape, unwind, relax and enjoy stunning views of the sea, gorgeous sunsets, your own private dock and sun deck.

World class fishing, snorkeling and diving are just minutes away. Lubbers Quarters is a beautiful private island right in the middle of the sea of Abaco. With well-spaced homes, the cay is uncrowded and serene. Historic Hope Town on Elbow Cay and Marsh Harbour are 15 minutes or less by boat, with more beaches, restaurants and shopping are just a few minutes away. Perfect for honeymoons, anniversaries, relaxing executives or two couples traveling together. Get to know the warm, friendly people of the out-islands. You'll fall in love and return over and over again.

About The House
Sandy Bottoms is an architect designed waterfront house, beautifully furnished with designer wicker with tropical colors, gleaming hard wood floors and fully air-conditioned. It is designed to take advantage of the magnificent views of the sea and catch the cool breezes with ceiling fans throughout.

There is a spacious living room and separate tiled dining room complete with wet bar and professional blender. The kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator with icemaker and full sized gas range, microwave, and professional bar blender. There is a VHF radio, satellite TV and VCR, a stereo system, radio, cassette and CD player so bring music and your favorite videos if you wish. A screened porch on the back of the house overlooks the blooming gardens.

Designed to accommodate two couples, Sandy Bottoms has 2 master suites, each with a full bath. One bedroom suite is located in the main house with a queen bed, large walk-in closet and spacious screeneed porch overlooking blooming gardens. The second suite with twin beds adjoins the main house via a large deck with gas grill, assuring privacy for both couples. All bed linens, towels and blankets are supplied except beach towels.
AMENITIES:
ACTIVITIES: Diving, Snorkeling and Beaches
Protected by the outer cays, the Sea of Abaco shelters a lovely variety of coral gardens. Very interesting snorkeling, even for beginners, can be done right along the shore in front of Sandy Bottoms. Sandy Cay Land and Sea Park is a 2100 acre preserve located a short boat ride south and offers perhaps the best snorkeling and scuba diving in all of the Abacos. You can bring your own equipment or purchase the basics. There are several professional dive and snorkel tour operators that will ensure you have a fantastic time. Our guests recommend Froggies Out Island Adventures in Hope Town and Dive Abaco in Marsh Harbour. They specialize in all-day island excursions to Abaco's underwater national parks in their specially equipped dive boats. They also offer: air fills, equipment rentals, resort courses and P.A.D.I. certifications.

There are numerous white sand beaches, some remote and clothing optional, others near reefs and restaurants, or walk to beaches minutes from your house.

 Ocean Fishing and Bone Fishing
The fishing is excellent -- catch dolphin, wahoo, tuna, grouper, snappers, hogfish, jacks, runners, porgies, grunts or dive for conch or lobster in season. We are just minutes from the Atlantic Ocean or bone fishing in the flats. Reliable local guides are available if you desire.

Bone fishing is considered by some experts to be the fastest game fish and they are alive and well in the waters surrounding Abaco. You can walk to the flats from Sandy Bottoms or you can hire any number of local bone fishermen to take you to their secret fishing grounds.

Kayaking, Bird Watching and Day Sailingg
For guided kayak tours, land safaris and bird tours, our guests recommend Abaco Outback, the civilized safari. It is safe and easy for all ages and abilities. Owner Ron Pagliaro is a fully accredited bird-touring guide. If you would like to take a day and sail the turquoise waters of the Sea of Abaco, let Captain John take you on a morning, afternoon or all day sail on SkyeLark.

Lubbers Quarters
Lubbers Quarters is centrally located in the Sea of Abaco about 15 minutes from either Hope Town on Elbow Cay or Marsh Harbour. It is the perfect place for a romantic get-away or for reenergizing from the stress of your busy world. The atmosphere is blissfully relaxed and low key. This is out- island living laid-back style at its best and that's our charm. If you want action, try snorkeling, diving, fishing, swimming, shelling or sunbathing. You are close to everything. There is no pressure. Do all or nothing at all. An old road winds its way around our end of the cay and is perfect for a leisurely stroll to enjoy the variety of rich bird life or a healthy fast-paced jog with incredible views of the sea along the route.

Honeymoons, Anniversaries and Weddings
Sandy Bottoms is a favorite for honeymooners and anniversaries. Some of our guests have tied the knot in a casual atmosphere on our dock with the most beautiful sunset you've ever seen as a back drop. Others have opted for more formal attire on a spectacular sandy beach with swaying palms at high noon. For a really memorable anniversary, re-new your vows in the little white chapel in Hope Town or an intimate gazebo overlooking the ocean with waves crashing in the background. You'll be welcomed back on every anniversary.
DINING/RESTARUANTS: Restaurants and Shopping
There are many restaurants and bars in our area, each offering a little different twist to island fare and fun. Lubbers is proud of the famous Cracker P's Bar and Grill where Chef Patrick grills the best food around. Shelter House is the home of one of Abaco's finest fisherman and he sells fish and lobster (in season). Both are a short walk from Sandy Bottoms and should be your first stop for food, fish and fun. About 5 minutes away by boat is White Sound on Elbow Cay where there are three excellent restaurants. In Hope Town, which is about 10 minutes, there are several restaurants overlooking the harbour and lighthouse and of course, the Lodge serves meals overlooking the Atlantic. Or run over to Marsh Harbour where you have quite a diversity of restaurants, some with boutiques and shopping for the ladies. About 30 minutes away is Pete's Pub, a wild and crazy place and worth the ride. You can dive and snorkel on the way home.

There are well-stocked supermarkets in Marsh Harbour for shopping on your arrival. Your taxi will wait for you. During the week, Hope Town has two grocery stores and an excellent bakery for mid-week fill-ins.

Abaco Settlements
Hope Town, on Elbow Cay, is our closest attraction with its picturesque harbour and loyalist settlement dating back to the 1700's. Its candy-striped lighthouse was built in l863. The village is comprised of charming old houses on narrow streets with New England architecture in pastels. The ocean beach has powdery pink sand and is protected by an extensive offshore reef. Man-O-War Cay has a bustling boat building industry and sail shop. Guana Cay has become more commercial featuring a number of beach bars and restaurants. Little Harbour is a beautiful small artist anchorage and is home to internationally famous bronze artist Pete Johnson. Pete's Pub looks like the set from Gilligans Island and you can shop in Pete's gallery for gorgeous jewelry and sculptures.
