A cell phone is available at a nominal charge. Maid service is available by prior arrangement. A short walk from the main street to the beach takes you past little shops selling local arts and crafts. Cabarete is located about 7 miles along the coast from Sosua and can be reached by Taxi for around 100 pesos or by the local "guaguas" which are shared taxis (usually driven at high speed) for around 10 pesos. In the evening the local restaurants set their tables out under the palms so you can enjoy a feast of fresh seafood under the tropical stars. One of our favorite spots is "Las Casitas" where you can sample their shrimp in garlic sauce, one dozen whole huge shrimp in a tasty garlic butter sauce. AMENITIES: ACTIVITIES: The North Coast of the Dominican Republic offers a rich selection of activities, from just relaxing by the pool or the ocean to more energetic pursuits like deep sea fishing for Dorado and sail fins, snorkeling or scuba diving on the many reefs in the Sosua Bay area, a short trip from Sosua to Cabarete will reward you with a wealth of water sports, sailing, windsurfing and kite boarding, good restaurants and lively bars all on the beach. There are also adventure trips into the Dominican interior and to neighboring Haiti, great shopping 1 hour away in Santiago, horse riding, golf, all in a relaxed island setting.
