The town is basically a main street of shops, restaurants, bars and windsurfing agencies, adjacent to the beach. In the evening the restaurants provide dining right on the beach and several bars continue with music and dancing until the early morning. It's a fun place! Tourists come from all over the world including Europe, Canada and the United States. It is a good idea to bring a sweater and a rain jacket as the evenings can be cool or rainy. The north coast is generally not affected by hurricanes. Wilsons is located on the non windy side of the bay, so its calm there all day. Stretch out in front on the beach and soak up the rays or play with the kids on the beach. Breakfast on the porch, or curl up with your favorite book. There is a small 9 hole golf course near the town and a magnificent 18 hole course at Playa Grande (about 1 hour away). Its very safe for children to swim in front and times there are great waves for body and regular surfing. The bay beach is comfortable walking with firm sand or get on a horse and see the country side from that view. Cabarete has an outstanding Mountain Biking Agency called Mama Iguana (iguanamama.com), check out the website for details. A lot of motorcycles are available to rent and many tours along the coast or inland can be arranged at agencies on the main street. The sunsets are generally great in Cabarete, marvelous silver afterglows, enjoy them from the porch, then head down the beach to dine at one of the many good restaurants located right on the beach and then follow with dancing at one of the hot spots there. The main street is just behind the beach restaurants, and has several banks, supermarkets, drugstores where you can buy most everything one needs on vacation. AMENITIES: Wilsons Beach House has 4 bedrooms upstairs (3 with 2 single beds and 1 with a double bed), each with its own bathroom. Guests share a common sitting room (with fridge) and the spacious front porch. The downstairs has a 3 bedroom apartment with kitchen, dining room, living room and front porch. This can be divided into two separate apartments. The side yard includes space for storing windsurf gear and relaxing on deckchairs which can be taken out to the beach in front. Wilsons is a small friendly place where you will get personal attention and enjoy the most convenient location in Cabarete with one of the most wonderful views in the world. Wilsons Beach House is trying to be "environmentally friendly" with solar panels for electricity and hot water (also because there have been many times when the power has not been available from the grid). The electricity here is 11o volt, 60 hz. Each room has a bathroom with shower. ACTIVITIES: Cabarete is famous for windsurfing, having hosted World Cup events frequently in the past. The winds start up about mid day every day, lastimg until early evening. A reef across the bay and an on shore wind makes it a very safe windsurfing area. You can get outside the reef for the big waves and there is a special area for great kite boarding. There are a lot of surf shops where you car rent gear or bring your own and store it in the side yard.
