Odessa is a three bedroom / three bath private West Indian Style estate by the sea, where the trade winds blow night and day with the sounds of breaking surf and tree frogs.
ODESSA - St. John (St. John)

Great for families or for couples seeking a secluded getaway, Odessa nestles on a hillside directly overlooking Hart Bay. A stone path leads down to excellent hiking, sunning, swimming or snorkeling among exotic coral and tropical fish.

Only five minutes from Cruz Bay with craft shops, groceries, excellent dining, dancing or exploring, Odessa feels like worlds away from civilization.

Stone walls with arched windows, blue and white clapboard, lattice and gingerbread detailing convey classic West Indian charm. Folding French Doors open the entire front of the house to a panorama of sights and sounds of the sea. Gentle off-shore waves and rocks texture the bay.

Curl up with a book in the estate's cozy living room or watch the sun rise over Rendezvous Bay on one of the airy decks. Prepare your meals in a fully equipped kitchen with dishware made by island potters. Dine at the indoor bar or at the outside table.

St. John is a fifteen minute ferry ride from St. Thomas. From the ferry landing in Cruz Bay, the house manager takes you to Odessa and can also help you rent a vehicle for your stay; cabs are available.

An island of less than 4000 permanent residents, St, John maintains a village-like ambiance. The national park covers two-thirds of the island with it's many sandy beaches, grand views and hiking trails. Sailing, tennis, sea kayaking, SCUBA diving and excellent snorkeling are all nearby. There are elegant and interesting shops in St. John. Small supermarkets are located in Cruz Bay along with casual restaurants and fine dining.

St. John is an inexpensive boat ride to the British Islands of Tortola, Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke. A passport or proof of citizenship, (drivers license with either a voter registration card or birth certificate), is required for customs clearance.

AMENITIES: Odessa's master bedroom features a queen-sized bed, comfortable furniture and a semi-open air shower. The private lower level offers two bedrooms with queen size beds, full bathrooms and a spacious deck.

A sofa and roll-away bed can accommodate other guests. Odessa comes with linens and towels, beach chairs and coolers. The electricity is supplemented by 12-volt solar power. A gas grill, cable TV, VCR, compact disc/tape deck and telescope are provided.

Every room in this West Indian style house faces the ocean. The private beach is shared with only a few other houses. Odessa overlooks multi-textured Hart Bay and has open air verandahs with screens. At night you hear only the surf and tree frogs.

Odessa is located on the southwest corner of St. John in the Chocolate Hole area on Hart Bay. It is about five minutes from the village of Cruz Bay. The house has a full kitchen, living room, three bedrooms (two with A/C) with queen-sized beds, TV and VCR, three full baths, spacious decks and a Jacuzzi. Pool to be installed in October of 2002.
