<description>
FAQ'S:
Where are you located on the island?

We are on the extreme southwest end of the island, on West Bay Beach. From the airport we are about 25 minutes by car or taxi, or by water taxi we are about 10 minutes from West End. There is a brand-new paved road all the way from the main towns to Paradise Beach Villas.

How far is Paradise Beach Villas from the airport?
Should I rent a car?

We are about 25 minutes by car or taxi. We are in a somewhat quiet area of the island, so if getting around on your own is a priority, you would need to rent a car. We can arrange car rental either for the car to be waiting for you at the airport, or to be delivered to us here at Paradise Beach Villas. See the link to Car Rentals.

How do we get from the airport to the resort?

If you stay with us for at least a week, we provide airport transfers. For stays of less than a week, we can arrange transportation for you at a cost of US$ 20 each way, from the airport. There are also taxis standing in front of the airport at all times, and it is easy to catch one to our property. This should not cost more than US$ 20 .

Can we drink the water?

Tap water on Roatan is not potable; however, showering and brushing teeth with our water is no problem. We provide you with bottled purified water to drink during your stay, and we keep plenty onsite in case you need refills.

Is there a grocery store nearby?

The nearest grocery store, a very small one, is located in West End, a 10-minute water taxi ride away. The main two grocery stores are located in Coxen Hole and French Harbour, and require land transportation. There is also a Municipal Market in Coxen Hole, which sells fresh fruit and vegetables, and some small items such as sandals. We go to town almost every day, and you are welcome to ride in with us and make your own way back, or we can arrange transportation for $20 one-way.

What kind of food is available on the island?

There is usually a good selection of food on the island, though you might have to go to different stores to find what you are looking for. Fresh fruit and vegetables depend on season and weather, and shipping. However, there is always a supply of staples such as milk, bread, rice, beans, eggs, cereals, etc. Snack foods such as chips or certain types of candy or cookies are sometimes difficult to find here. However, there is always a supply of fresh or frozen seafood, and fish.

Where can we snorkel?

Snorkeling is great right off our beach, and we rent snorkel gear onsite, at US$ 10 per person per day, plus US$ 1 per person per day Marine Reserve charge.

What kind of medical care is available on the island?

There are two other restaurants in addition to ours, down the beach, which are open at different times. For more variety there are bars and restaurants in West End, and some more in French Harbour. We can make recommendations while you are here.

Can foreigners own property on Roatan?

Yes, foreigners can own homes and property on Roatan. There are some restrictions that apply, but with the right attorney (We can recommend a good one, who is completely bilingual, English and Spanish.) it is a very easy process, and fairly inexpensive.
