Moxey's Guest House and Bonefishng Lodge - Bahamas (Nassau)

Operated by Joel and Lundy Moxey, Moxey's Guest House and Bonefishng Lodge is well known for its warm hospitality of fine and simple island living. The two-story white stucco lodge with yellow trim is located fifty feet from the gentle waters of Middle Bright on the east coast of Andros Island.
AMENITIES: Accommodations
Upstairs in the main house, their are two suites that house 8 eight anglers. Each suite has a private bath with spacious sitting rooms that open to a porch. Adjacent to the main lodge is a six room guest house guest house that shares three baths.

Lodge Amenities and Meals
Downstairs in the main house is a bar with satellite TV, which is adjacent to our air conditioned dining area. Meals feature American and indigenous Bahamian cuisine prepared by fine native cooks. Seafood makes up the main entree such as lobster conch, grouper, and for non-seafood eaters we have a variety of alternatives.

ACTIVITIES: Our Fishing Flats
Our fishing guides, normally one per couple of anglers have over sixty-five years of experience collectively and they know intimately the near endless 800 square miles of flats. You may fish the South, Middle, North Bights, Westside or Sout-Westside or North-Westside of Andros Island, any one of 100 tidal sloughs through the maze of mangroves on these nearly endless flats.

Typical Fishing Day
Anglers depart the lodge and start fishing at 7:00 a.m. and fish to 4:30 p.m. or 5:00 p.m. If need be, you can boat to distant flats where bones have not been disturbed by other anglers. Your chances of hooking up with 10 to 15 good fish in the six pound-plus ranges are very good. Some anglers tie into 15 to 20 plus fish per day, and once in a while there's a 10 pounder or better in the bunch. The lodge record set in November 1998 is 70 bones in one day for a pair of anglers. Our record for largest fish caught on fly is 16.6 pounds.

Bahamas Bonefishing Season
The most comfortable bonefishing is October - November and again March-May. Despite the heat, summer can provide very good angling opportunities too. Months of the late spring and early summer are best for a grand slam opportunity: permit, tarpon and bonefish all in one day.

Spin and Fly Fishing
While some anglers use spinning gear, bait fishing has become minimal, nevertheless, we accommodate all anglers.

Bahamas Eco Trips

Bahamas Snorkeling and Birdwatching
For a non-fishing companion a snorkeling trip to some of the world's deepest blue holes, immaculate coral reefs basking in turquoise water or birdwatching can be easily accommodated.

Bahamas Botany
For the botany enthusiast a wide array of wild orchids and plant life can be found on the innumerable cays in the bights. A steady stream of botanists come here to see the 40 species of wild orchids, some of which are not found anywhere else on earth.

Bahamas Inland Forest Wildlife Eco Tours
Trips further inland to explore the deep forest pine, broad leaf copious such as the mahogany trees, and the giant reptile four-foot iguanas are welcome.

Visiting other Bahamas Islands
Cay hoping through the bights of Andros for a day will render you an experience for a life time and each cay will provide an individual uniqueness of plant life, geographical composition and terrain.
