<title>The Landing - Bahamas (Harbour Island)</title>

Visit our gift shop for a gorgeous embroidered caftan or a whimsical T-shirt, or take a walk through enchanting Dunmore Town, with its candy-colored Victorian cottages and friendly inhabitants.

Historic Harbour Island, which lies a short distance off the northeast coast of Eleuthera, has long been regarded as one of the world's foremost resort destinations because of its breathtakingly beautiful pink sand beaches and calm turquoise water.

Dunmore Town, the Island's center, is a mixture of pastel colored cottages, white picket fences and a number of small hotels and restaurants. The quiet streets are most easily travelled by one of the many golf carts available for hire on the island, or strolled at a leisurely pace to view the sights and greet the native "Brilanders," as they call themselves. Visit the shops, boutiques and art galleries that dot the island, or stop by the straw market for local crafts and a taste of island-grown produce.

The island is accessible by air from Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and Nassau, with daily direct flights to North Eleuthera Airport. Water taxis leave continuously for Dunmore Town, a 10-minute trip across the harbour. Bahamas Fast Ferries go directly from Nassau to Harbour Island also.
AMENITIES: The Landing offers seven guest rooms, including a honeymoon suite under the eaves that overlooks the garden. These newly-renovated rooms are decorated in classic plantation style by India Hicks, the granddaughter of Lord Mountbatten, and famed British designer David Hicks.

Rooms have mahogany stained, four poster beds with crisp white Ralph Lauren linens, and are draped in Indian cotton. The waxed hardwood floors are overlaid with sea-grass matting and decorated with a meticulous attention to detail.

All rooms have private baths and air conditioners, some also have ceiling fans and verandahs, most have harbour views.
ACTIVITIES: The library offers a quiet place to relax in a huge cane chair or cozy sofa and read one of the novels or photographic books that line the shelves. In the evening, sit back in one of the mint-green Adirondack chairs on the wide verandah and watch the sun set over the harbour. Guests can refresh themselves at the bar and dine in our world-class restaurant, which features a contemporary menu based on seafood and fresh local produce expertly prepared by Chef Jenny Learmonth.
