Bailiwick - Bahamas (Eleuthera)

Eleuthera is a very quiet place and one of its attractions is there isn't all that much to do other than enjoy the beach and good company. One thing you won't find here are lots of fancy restaurants or late night clubs for dancing the night away. (Actually, that's why we like it.) Nonetheless there are some very enjoyable ways to pass your time:

A day trip north will take you through several small settlements and across the dramatic Glass Window bridge (where the island narrows to nothing and Atlantic waves crash through the cliffs below to meet the calm shallow waters on the lee side of the island). Continue further and you can cross by water taxi to historic Dunmore Town for lunch at one of several Harbour Island resorts, or visit the industrious fishing community of Spanish Wells.
AMENITIES: The main residence has two master bedroom suites with king size beds and private baths (one has its own office/sitting area). The other two bedrooms (one twin, one double) share a hall bathroom. There is an additional half bath off the family room/kitchen area (perfect for kids or a guest who ends up on the sleep sofa). Also available for guest use is a laundry room with washer and dryer, and an outdoor shower.

The newly updated kitchen is well-equipped and made for serious cooking. There's a dishwasher, microwave, blender, food processor, mixer, coffee grinder, toaster, grill oven (did we leave anything out?). On the deck there's also a gas barbeque grill which you're sure to enjoy.

The large and comfortable living/dining area is a great gathering place in the evening. On the very occasional stormy day when the Atlantic winds turn chilly, or in the cooler months when the evening temperature may drop just below 70, the fireplace provides a welcome bit of warmth. There are also lots of books and games to fill in the hours before or after the beach.

Speaking of the beach, you will find a whole closet full of towels, beach chairs, snorkel equipment, lotions and picnic supplies available for guest use. And we didn't forget the first aid kit for the nicks, scrapes and bug bites that sometimes happen on vacation.
ACTIVITIES: Golfers who are willing to make the 40 mile trek south to the Cotton Bay Club can arrange to have lunch and play a round at a Robert Trent Jones designed course. A stop at one of the beaches along the way can make for a great day of sightseeing.

You don't need to travel nearly as far to arrange for tennis at the Cigatoo Inn in Governor's Harbour or try fishing with a local guide, or scuba diving with the local dive shop.

In Governor's Harbour you will also find a few gift and craft shops, a bakery and even a movie theater. There and in other nearby settlements you can choose from several local establishments that serve freshly prepared local fare (like cracked conch and even conch pizza) and enjoy a rum punch or two.

We will be happy to help you with information and arrangements for any of these activities.
DINING/RESTARUANTS:
Type: Vacation Rental Beach Location: Off Beach (Tropical Setting)
