Scotia - Elbow Cay - Abaco - Bahamas (Elbow Cay - Abaco)

How could a vacation at Scotia go? It would probably begin by flying into Marsh Harbour where you clear customs. From there you take a taxi to the ferry dock. On the way, ask the driver to find out if there is a charter to White Sound. If there is, it can probably be shared, or you might just want to charter for yourself. If you are comfortable navigating new waters you could have your rental boat waiting for you in Marsh Harbour.
That taken care of, you would then have the driver take you to one of the two supermarkets, where the taxi will wait while you shop, or you might get another taxi when you are through. Once on the ferry, have the captain call Sweeting Construction and let our caretakers, Ricky and Betty Sweeting, know where to meet you.

There are no casinos, no nightclubs, no golf or tennis courts, just sun, sand, sea and fish and peaceful days. We feel Scotia is a place to come to for quiet and renewing, returning to wherever refreshed and with pictures on film or in the mind that cannot be matched anywhere. Our home is in a wonderful location that insures privacy, and yet is only a "block" from the paved road.

-Flashlights, batteries, camera and plenty of film
-Fishing, scuba, snorkeling equipment (some can be rented)

ACTIVITIES: On the first day you might take a camera tour of the island. A right turn at the foot of our lane will take you up on the ridge where you will look left to the ocean and right to the Sound. Continue to the end of the island, where you can look across Tilloo Cut. Then circle by Tahiti Beach. On your way back you might want to stop off at the Abaco Inn for something refreshing, and talk with the staff about dinner. Both the Abaco Inn and Rudy's Place will pick you up and bring you home if you have dinner there.

If you're really ambitious, you might then want to walk into Hopetown. Be sure to go by way of the footpath as this goes along the shoreline and cuts half a mile off the interior road route. The town itself has several nice places for lunch or dinner: Hopetown Harbour Lodge, Club Soleil, or the "fast food" Bahamas style places like Captain Jack's or Harbor View. Hopetown has several small grocery stores, drug stores, gift shops, a surf and sail shop, and the Dive Shop, all open weekdays but not Sunday.

A days outing to Man-O-War should not be missed with a thought to buying some of the well made items at The Sail Shop. The days will pass all too fast as you occupy yourself with whatever suits your fancy, be it chartered trips, snorkeling forays or fishing ventures. Just beach walking, shell collecting, sunning and enjoying the "nothing needs doing" atmosphere is enough for some. The pace of life is as you set it.
