East Winds Inn - St. Lucia (Castries)

East Winds Inn situated on eight acres of beautiful tropical gardens bordering directly on it's own sandy beach on La Brelotte Bay, is just half way (3 to 4 miles) between Castries and Rodney Bay.

It consists of 30 rooms and 1 "mini-suite" located in 15 single storey cottages and offers a wide range of elegant facilities, including open-air Restaurant and Main Bar, a small shop-boutique and a lovely free-form swimming pool with it's own swim-up bar.

The cuisine is of the highest standard serving a wide range of International and Caribbean dishes as well as daily vegetarian options all carefully completed by an enticing choice of different wines to suite. Under the expert and innovative guide of Chef Franck Chevrier, the Hotel, has won over the years several accolades and gold and silver medals in the many local and regional cuisine fairs and exhibitions.

The Sunset Bar at the edge of the beach, the beautiful open air Club-House with it's own cocktail bar and the small "Card-room" in "The cottage" are other of the elegant features of the property.

A "Nature Walk" around the property identifying the many indigenous plants, flowers and trees and with description of the different bird species which co-habit the tropical gardens has recently been laid out for the benefit of all guests.

St. Lucia is situated between Martinique and St. Vincent to the South. Discovered in 1502 by Christopher Colombo during his fourth trip to the Indies, it was for over 3 centuries a prized possession coveted by both Britain and France, changing hands and rule 14 times before settling down as a British Colony by the 1814 Treaty of Paris. St. Lucia became an independent Nation in 1979 and it remains a member of the British Commonwealth.

St. Lucia is renowned as one of the most beautiful of the Caribbean Islands to be known also, because of its beauty, as the "Helen" of the West Indies.
It offers a wide contrast of landscapes ranging from one of the few remaining tropical "rain" forests of the region, to beautiful beaches (both white and volcanic) and with its many bananas, cocoa and coconut plantations. This all dominated by the stunning view of the towering "Pitons", the two lava cones which stand guard to St. Lucia's "walk-in" volcano, the Soufrière.
AMENITIES: All units are set amongst the lush private gardens and the following features are common to all rooms:
- private bathroom with shower
- direct dial telephone
- clock-radio

SUPERIOR
These 10 rooms are all "rondavels" of a large hexagonal shape with a walk-in shower and adjoining walk-in wardrobe/service area with a small bar-sink unit and have a large semicircular shaded patio. (Maximum occupancy 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.)

DELUXE
These 16 rooms are also large and located in more recently built garden-bungalows, and in addition to a spacious bathroom with "His and Hers" basins and a wide semi-open-air shower, have a small "lobby" with a spacious wardrobe and dressing table. The open-air bar-sink and fridge units are a feature of the wide covered terrace through which the rooms are all independently accessed. Remote control cable television and VCR are special features of the deluxe rooms. (Maximum occupancy 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.)

OCEANFRONT
These 3 rooms have only recently been added to the hotel inventory through the complete renovation of a larger "cottage" of which they occupy one wing. Located at the front of the property, closer to the beach, they offer a great sea-view from their small "traditional" balconies. Although smaller in size than the other units they are enjoying the elegant facilities and privacy of the open-air "Card-room"-lounge and its pantry. (Also in "The cottage".) (Maximum occupancy 2 adults.)

THE "MINI-SUITE"
This is also a recent addition, as part of "The cottage" refurbishment. Oceanfront and with a small separate sitting room (with its own cloakroom) and with a large private sun-deck terrace with outdoor shower. (Maximum occupancy 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.)

At "The Inn", the cuisine is of the highest standard serving a wide range of International and Caribbean dishes as well as daily vegetarian options all carefully complemented by an enticing choice of different wines to suit.

Fish and lobster are brought fresh to the beach by passing fishermen in their "pirogues", whilst local herbs, vegetables and fruits are selected at the market and from local farms.

Under the expert and innovative guide of Chef Franc Chevrier since 1993, the hotel has won several accolades and medals in the yearly local and regional culinary competitions and is a member of the "Chaine des Rotisseurs".
