Resident guests have the luxury of experiencing the natural beauty, tranquility and rich history of this 18th century sugar plantation and ancient Amerindian site in its entirety, with personal insights into its fascinating past provided by your charming and knowledgeable hosts, who have made Balenbouche Estate their home and life's work for the last 20 years. Balenbouche Estate also hosts special events and projects such as weddings, the Annual St. Lucia Jazz Festival, archeological field schools, cultural exchanges and artist retreats. AMENITIES: Each villa offers two bedrooms with private baths, kitchen and living room/veranda, and sleeps up to 6 people. You can rent the entire villa, or just one bedroom/bath unit (single or double occupancy). All rooms are built in wood using traditional architectural styles, and are designed to catch the tropical breeze. Each bed is equipped with a mosquito net, and standing fans are available upon request. The rooms in the estate house share a bathroom with a cold water shower. Laundry facilities, maid service, and internet access are at your disposal. We offer self-catering as well as daily specials at the Estate house restaurant. Children are welcome and free of charge under 6 years old, children under 12 are half price. ACTIVITIES: Many visitors come to Balenbouche Estate simply to relax within the parameters of the 70 acre grounds and spend time with their family and friends. Nature trails meander through expansive tropical gardens and fruit orchards, leading to several secluded beaches adjoining the property. Visitors can engage in activities such as hiking, birdwatching, exploring historic ruins, strolling through traditional fishing villages and discovering secluded beaches. Guided tours to nearby points of interest can be arranged. The towns of Vieux Fort and Soufriere (20 and 30 minutes drive) offer shopping, restaurants, nightlife, watersports and many other attractions and activities.
