Mimosa House - The Grenadines (Bequia)

Mimosa House was built some thirty years ago in a neo-colonial style. Its beautiful waterfront location with private garden frontage is an on oasis of calm just five minutes walk along the beach from Bequia's main town of Port Elizabeth.

The Fountain of Light Therapy is a unique form of restorative treatment which incorporates the use of light, colour and sound, in tranquil and peaceful surroundings.

The Cottage, with its colonial history, is a museum piece of original West Indian architecture. Once it was moved across the island on the back of an ox-cart and was the birth place of one of the island's dignitaries. Later it housed the famous Crab Hole Boutique which sold original silk screen prints from its island factory.

Now, recently completely renovated and converted to a Cottage, it offers you that fairy tale gingerbread shanty.

The placid waters of the beach facing west make it both a safe place for swimming and a fabulous sunset site. The "green flash" can frequently be seen, while enjoying that special sundowner, from the gazebo, verandah or patio, or whilst relaxing in the hammock….

Within, the furniture reflects restful opulence. Comfortable and functional, pieces from Catalunia in Spain, hand-made and original, with rattan from Indonesia combine with locally produced fine hardwoods to create space in which to relax at your leisure.

1 Bedroom Cottage Deluxe

Later it housed the famous Crab Hole Boutique which sold original silk screen prints Now, completely renovated, it offers you that fairy tale gingerbread shanty.

2 Bedroom Ocean View Deluxe

The apartment enjoys its own private garden, with views to the sunset and space to relax in privacy. It comprises a large lounge/dining area with kitchenette, plus two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. It is therefore ideal for families or two couples.

AMENITIES: Ferry Trips to St. Vincent.-

La Soufriere of St Vincent.-

Commanding the North region of the island , at 1200 mts of altitude, " la Soufriere of St. Vincent", a well-known active volcano , awaits you

The nature trail is about 3.5 miles long, starting in the rain forest. Walking on a basalt column, the first part is really wonderful : crossing a bamboo forest, we will observe a wide variety of luscious trees and plants: heliconias, lilies, tropical ferns, philodendrons among others. The vegetation becomes lower and lower as we climb, finishing on the rocky andesitic slopes of the volcano.

We reach the crater after approximately 2 hours walking. But what a view! " Its worth the hike" as many say.

Indeed , this volcano has one of the most beautiful shape in the world : a perfect crater, a dome from which smoke is emanating , and this sulphurous smell that comes from the center of the earth.

After this unforgettable hiking excursion, a nice lunch at Ferdie's restaurant is well appreciated by everyone.

Trinity Falls, St. Vincent.- A Fountain of Energy!

Trinity Falls are, for many the most beautiful water falls in St. Vincent.

We are in North Leeward, we reach the falls after 1 hour and a half drive on steep roads and through lush mountainous terrains that take your breath away, and a 20 minutes walk.

We usually stay there 2 hours, bathing and relaxing in the sun. The beauty of the site, its tranquility and its unspoiled nature will allow you to regain some interior energy.

Then, a meal is waiting for us at a farm in Chateaubelair : a way to get a bit of knowledge on a Caribbean lifestyle and enjoy a few of the local dishes. On our way back , a stop at Fort Charlotte or the botanical Garden is possible.

Excursions around Bequia Island.-

Bequia is a tiny spot among the many islands of the Caribbean, but it contains charms aplenty. The center of the island resembles a forest jungle while its beaches, marine park and other attractions provide a wonderful countepoint that has fascinated visitors for decades.

We can organize tours by car from Mimosa house. You will enjoy visiting Friendship Bay and its crescent shaped beach. Princess Margaret and Lower Bay are a must , while Hope Bay, Paradise, and Spring Bay are breath taking spots in which nature performs at its best.

Bequia - traditional and modern- offers visitors the best of both worlds ! Come to Bequia ! It will be unforgettable!

ACTIVITIES: Port Elizabeth is a lazy five minute amble along the waterfront sea-path, past easy going West Indian beach bars and western style hotels offering rum punches and lobster dinners as well as steaks and hamburgers and has boutiques, supermarkets, delicatessens and street "jump-ups".
