Windy Edge Holiday Villa with Pool - Trinidad and Tobago ()

The present house was built in the 1960's on the old Concordia cocoa estate, by a former US ambassador to Japan who retired to Tobago after many years in the Far East. The old plantation house must have been built here in the late 18th or early 19th century from the evidence of bits and pieces of china and pottery we have dug up in the garden which have been dated in the UK as 1800 -1850.

Windy Edge is on one level with a wide veranda running all around it, and being set on the top of a hill, not only does it catch the cooling breezes, but the views from here are spectacular, definitely some of the best on the island. The garden is full of mature trees: flame trees, palms, lime and grapefruit, also exotic fruit such as papaya, bananas and pineapples.

Windy Edge is a comfortable family house in extensive grounds, not a custom-built luxury villa in a holiday complex, and we offer people a unique opportunity to experience life in Tobago as visitors rather than tourists. Many of our guests have been back for return visits; once the relaxed way of life in Tobago, and at Windy Edge in particular gets into your system it is hard to get it out !

The garden is cultivated round the house and pool, and left as forest lower down the hill making a small wildlife sanctuary. As well as an abundance of different birds and butterflies, in the forest there are iguanas, salamanders, lizards and squirrels, and one of our guests even saw a capuchin monkey. At night the frogs and cicadas call to each other creating a wonderfully exotic ambience.
AMENITIES: We have four guest bedrooms (all with ceiling fans) two with en suite bathrooms and two sharing a bathroom. There are spacious living and dining rooms (also with ceiling fans) and a well-equipped kitchen, with dishwasher, washing machine, 2 fridges and freezer. Telephone and fax are provided. Voltage is 112. The pool (unfenced) is 32' by 16', the deepest part being approximately 5'6”

We have a resident maid (in self-contained accommodation) who will welcome you on your arrival. She keeps the house clean and tidy and, by arrangement with guests, will cook, shop or babysit whenever required. For additional night-time security we also have a nightwatchman.

Although secluded, Windy Edge is not isolated, distances are all short on Tobago, 20 minutes to the airport, 10 to Scarborough, 10 to the nearest beach, 5 to the nearest store. Car hire can be arranged here in England, and guests are met at the airport and escorted to the house. There the fridges will be stocked with whatever food and drinks you want, and the dinner you have ordered will await you.
ACTIVITIES: Trips to the rain forest, golf course or diving school, and sailing, fishing and snorkelling can all be organized.

Tobago is a well-known diving location: there are Manta Rays and giant coral in the Angel Reef off Little Tobago, and the famous Bucco Reef off Pigeon Point hosts a multitude of fish and underwater gardens. There are several reputable dive schools on the island.

The Mount Irvine Golf course is a well-established venue for international competitions, and enjoyable for players of any standard, with Mount Irvine Bay adjacent for a cooling dip after the 18th hole. Tobago now boasts a brand-new 18-hole golf course at the Hilton hotel which is proving popular with the many enthusiasts who visit the island.

There will come a time, when you want to leave your hammock and indulge in a little exploration, perhaps some scuba-diving or golf or maybe take in some nightlife. Windy Edge is perfectly positioned to allow you to visit all parts of Tobago with ease.
