Where is Antigua?
Antigua (pronounced An-tee'ga) is located in the middle of the Leeward Islands in the Eastern Caribbean, roughly 17 degrees north of the equator. To the south are the islands of Montserrat and Guadaloupe, and to the north and west are Nevis, St. Kitts, St. Barts, and St. Martin.
Weather in Antigua
Antigua enjoys an average of eight and a half hours of sunlight every day. Temperatures generally range from the mid-seventies in the winter to the mid-eighties in the summer. Annual rainfall averages only 45 inches, making it the sunniest of the Eastern Caribbean Islands, and the northeast trade winds are nearly constant, flagging only in September. Antigua enjoys low humidity year-round. 

Traveling to Antigua

Gratuities
Same as in the US; 10-15% depending on the service. Give porters and bellhops 50 cents per bag, taxi drivers 10-15% of the fare.

Telephones
Calling the US is easy from Antigua. Our Elite Island Resorts offer US Direct calling service, or can connect you with a US operator for calling home.

Taxes and service charges
Antigua has a US$12.00 airport departure tax, a room tax of 8.5% and a service charge of 10%.

Electricity
Part of the island is 110 volts, the remainder is 220 volts. Most hotels have both voltages available.

Appropriate attire
Informal, but conservative. Beach attire is appropriate for the beach but not town, shops or restaurants. Some restaurants stipulate jackets and ties for men and dresses for women in the evening.

Time zone
Antigua is in the Atlantic Standard Time zone, one hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time and the same as Eastern Daylight Time. Atlantic Standard Time is four hours behind GMT.

Currency
The official currency of Antigua is the Eastern Caribbean dollar which is fixed to the US dollar. A recent exchange rate was US$1.00 = EC$2.70. US currency, travelers checks and major credit cards are welcome everywhere.

Banking hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 1:00pm and again from 3:00pm to 5:00pm; Friday from 8:00am to 12:00pm, and 3:00pm to 5:00pm.

Medical facilities
There are several general practitioners and specialists on the island as well as a hospital and a private clinic. No vaccinations are required unless the visitor is arriving from an endemic area. Recompression chambers are available by air ambulance at nearby Saba and in St. Thomas. Pharmaceutical services are widely available.

Passports and immigration
US, Canadian and UK nationals require proof of citizenship � a valid passport, original or certified birth certificate. US residents and others should contact the nearest tourist office for entry requirements.

Shopping hours
Monday thru Saturday 8:00am to noon and 1:00pm-5:00pm.

Personal safety
Antigua is relatively crime free, but exercise normal precautions; i.e. don�t leave valuables unattended in rental cars or on the beach.
Club Room
Two double beds, garden view (some have a partial ocean view), air-conditioning, private bath with shower and tub, ceiling fans, hairdryer, in room safe, direct-dial telephone, color cable television, alarm clock/radio, bath robes and a private balcony or patio.   
   
Premium Room
Spacious upper floor rooms with a king-size bed, overlooking the sea, with a private balcony,  air-conditioning, private bath with shower and tub, ceiling fans, hairdryer, in room safe, direct-dial telephone, color cable television, alarm clock/radio and bath robes.   
   
Beachfront
Spacious guestrooms feature an airy floor plan and are all equipped with a private balcony or terrace only steps to Coco�s Beach.  All rooms feature either one King or two Queen beds and are located in one of three buildings (Papaya, Mango or Pineapple). Appointed with all the amenities to ensure an exceptional stay, all Beachfront rooms are equipped with ceiling fans, in room controlled air conditioning, direct-dial telephone, small refrigerator, color/cable television, coffee maker, alarm/clock radio, bathrobes, in room safe and hair dryer.   
   
Royal Suite
The new Royal suites feature spectacular waterfront views of tranquil Mamora Bay, their own check-in area, concierge,  bar, and two new pools. Each Royal Suite offers sunken living room with marbled top wet bar, floor-to-ceiling windows, private furnished balcony, expansive bathroom with his-and-hers showers and deep-soaking tub. These spacious suites measure 568 sq. ft. and exude a Caribbean-style décor  with striking island furnishings and art, king size bed and  sofa, 37-inch HD flat-screen TV,  iPod docking stations, DVD players and internet access.

2-Bedroom Villa
Luxuriously appointed two-bedroom villa located in the Club�s Village area. Each features two separate bedrooms, each with a private bath with shower. Master has a king-size bed, full bath with tub, shower and bidet. The second bedroom has two twin beds and a shower. Every villa has separate dining and living areas, a full kitchen, a balcony or patio overlooking Mamora Bay, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, hairdryer, safety deposit box, direct-dial telephone, color cable television, alarm clock/radio and bath robes. 
Adventure and challenges await on the beach at Mamora Bay, for those who’d like to try their hand at windsurfing, sailing or kayaking - lessons and equipment are complimentary for guests during their stay at St. James’s Club.It is our pleasure to invite you to check out our exclusive fleet and jump onboard one of our vessels direct from the resort, saving you the expensive taxi fare and ensuring that you experience the waters in the best vessels, with our wonderful crew.Tucked into a quiet corner of the The Club area of St. James’s Club and Villas is the Tennis Center, with four hard courts and two artificial turf courts. Four courts are lighted for night play.Golfers can perfect their strokes at two 18-hole courses. The Cedar Valley Golf Course, designed by Ralph Aldridge, is an 18-hole, 6,157 yard, par-70 course with beautiful greens and sweeping views of the surrounding hilltops and the Caribbean sea. From the international buffets of The Rainbow Garden to the grilled specialities of The Docksider and Mediterranean cuisine of Piccolo Mondo, dining at St. James�s Club is all about choice. Our four restaurants are located near the pool, by the water�s edge or on a panoramic hillside overlooking Mamora Bay, each delightful venue complemented by mouthwatering cuisine and attentive service.

THE RAINBOW GARDEN is The Club�s principal restaurant. It is set amidst the resort�s tropical gardens, its spacious dining room opening out onto a terrace overlooking the pool. From generous buffets showcasing fresh seafood to a la carte menus featuring prime steaks, guests can anticipate memorable evenings here, Mondays particularly popular for the live calypso music and international buffets. 
Open daily for breakfast and lunch, as well as on selected evenings for dinner. Some dishes may be subject to a supplement for all-inclusive guests.

THE DOCKSIDER is distinguished by its alfresco setting right on the edge of tranquil Mamora Bay. Traditionally only open after dark, it offers grilled favorites such as fish kebabs and sirloin steaks, with speciality dishes like freshly-caught lobster and prime beef tenderloin also on the menu.
Open on selected evenings for dinner. Some dishes may be subject to a supplement for all-inclusive guests.

PICCOLO MONDO is the resort�s fine dining restaurant. Its sequestered hillside setting in The Village is enhanced by creative cuisine inspired by the Mediterranean and Caribbean. Deep-fried calamari, fresh lobster and grilled beef tenderloin can all feature here, the international specialities complemented by fine wines and choice desserts.
Open on selected evenings for dinner. Please note all-inclusive guests pay a $35 surcharge per person to dine at Piccolo Mondo.

St. James�s Club guests can also enjoy the more informal dining experience of COCO�S restaurant overlooking the palm-fringed Atlantic shoreline. Coffees and teas are also available in the GARDEN PATIO.
