Petit Bacaye Cottage Hotel - Grenada ()

Petit Bacaye - a Caribbean hideaway located on the south coast of Grenada - is a wonderfully sheltered, secluded stretch of palm-studded sand cooled by the trade winds. Real Grenada is here. Fisherman put out to sea bringing their catch daily to our restaurant -lobster, snapper, strawberry grouper, conch. Banana and paw paw are served direct from our own trees. In the sea side restaurant, savour the textures and tastes of Grenadian cooking flavoured with exotic spices grown on the island. Ten grain bread, warm banana bread, hot bakes, lemongrass lemonade and coconut ice cream are all made on the premises whilst nutmeg jam, flambé bananas, fresh fruit punches with mango and paw paw are all on the menu.

Our friendly staff of 12 are ready to serve you a romantic supper for two on the waters edge under the starlit sky or perhaps our famous rum punch served in the sea at sundown while you watch the flight of the egrets home to their roost on the island – Petit Bacaye's very own bird sanctuary.

We have a masseuse on hand to anoint you with coconut and nutmeg oils whilst you lie on the cool wooden verandah of ‘De Soul Case' set amongst the banana trees and giant ginger flowers.

A heavenly place for small weddings on the beach.
AMENITIES:
ACTIVITIES: The beach at Petit Bacaye is totally safe for swimming, the water warm and snorkelling off the reef is fun. Almond and palm trees provide plenty of shade and the trade winds keep you cool. Each beach house has sun-beds. At the far end of the beach the fishermen bring in their daily catch for sale to the hotel and local people. Most guests find it fascinating to go and see all the different types of fish that make up the catch. They are weighed and sold on the beach. All beaches in Grenada are public and we share our beach with the fishermen and a few local children. You can walk around the rocks to the island - now a designated bird sanctuary. Off the jetty is a crystal clear pool – lovely for swimming. Rum punch is served at the water's edge as the sun goes down and the egrets go home to roost.
DINING/RESTARUANTS: The beach bar restaurant is 25 metres from the sea with a shaded verandah, every table with stunning sea views and outside dining under the stars. We serve local fresh food, lobster, snapper, grouper, tuna - right out of the sea that day, locally grown vegetables, plantain, bluggo, callaloo and paw paw, bananas, guavas and star fruit from our own trees. We make bread and bakes (local bread), banana bread, ice cream, delicious Grenadian soups, crab backs, pumpkin mash, sword fish in coconut and chilli and yummy coconut creams to our secret recipe. Our lobster salad lunches are renowned. Nat's rum punches and Kelon's pina coladas are rightly famous, the local beer is ice cold and delicious as are our wines from Chile, America and Spain.
Type: Hotel Beach Location: Beach Front (Directly on Beach/Water Front)
