Copal is Paradise

I have spent a week at Cabanas Copal in June of the past two years and I will be returning to Copal In June of this year (2003). Copal is set on one of the most beautiful, secluded beaches in the Tulum area. Copal is staffed by a great group of folks who go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. The owners are on-site and are dedicated to customer service. Sometimes things go awry. I had some very minor problems during my first visit but Holly, who along with her husband Eduardo are the owners, was determined to make things right. I was so impressed that I returned the following year and I'll keep going as frequently as possible. As a veteran of 21 years in customer service, I recognize, and appreciate excellent service when I receive it. One of the other reviewers complained about a reservation problem. I know for a fact that Copal does not intentionally overbook, as many hotels do. The problem encountered by the 'anonymous' reviewer above was the result of a new employee who was not following procedure. The employee was terminated. 'Anonymous' has posted this same story on other message boards. She has also repeatedly ignored Holly's attempts to reconcile. Holly has responded to 'Anonymous' many times on other boards, yet 'Anonymous' continues to post these nasty messages. I understand that 'Anonymous' was disappointed when someone at Copal dropped the ball on her reservation. It was a tragedy that she missed out on what might have been the best vacation of her life. But, like I said, sometimes things go wrong in any business. The real test of customer service is how the company handles the problems that occur. Complaining and bad-mouthing a business without giving them a chance to fix the problem or make it up to the customer is the action of a very small person. What does 'Anonymous' have to lose by contacting Holly directly about the problem, even at this late date? Why would 'Anonymous' rather complain than get satisfaction?
