Service and food terrible.

We stayed at Grand Occidental Xcaret in January of 2006 – loved it. This January, 2008 we brought 11 of our friends. Now it has a different name: Occidental Grand Flamenco Xcaret. And with the name change there are a lot of changes in quality of service and quality of food. Now it’s not easy to make reservations in restaurants – everything is booked, but when we went to 3 restaurants it was half empty.
I booked Occidental through MLT for my family of 3 people and when we arrived we found out that the Travel agency had made a mistake and they got us a room for 2 people instead. I asked the staff of Occidental to show us the room for 3 people junior suit - it’s almost the same room except 5 feet longer, beside 2 beds there was a couch. I asked how much we have to pay extra and they told me $35.00 more per person or $735.00 for a week stay.
I had to complain to customer service that we don’t have CNN or Fox News channel working in our room, only Spanish channels, it took 3 days to resolve this. They told me that we need to move to a different room with working TV. And guess who did the moving - me. The food they were serving at the buffet was almost the same every day. Last year we even had caviar one day. This year I was ashamed because I told so much about this resort to my friends
