Beautiful Resort / Stupid Management

Our family of 5 just returned from the Xcaret for 10 days. The resort is beautiful. The restaurants were ok, the buffet actually ends up being the best. The pools and grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The staff very friendly. The beach is small but perfect if traveling with small children.
The only complaint I have is with the managemeent. Our 13 yr old son turned 13 the 2nd day we were there. My wife was booking an excursion and when she said he was 13, the rep had her go to the front desk to clear up a computer problem. Turns out that they charge an extra $47 / night for a 13yr old as opposed to a 12 yr old. That was the computer problem. I explained to the desk and then the manager that we booked this 3 months in advance, supplied everyone's birthdates, and produced everyone's passports at check in. He basically said "Tough, that's our policy", so we had to pay an additional $400. To add insult to injury, they messed up the Peso conversion and called my wife the next day to have her come to sign for an additional $6 / per night that we were "undercharged". It is so incredibly stupid for them to "piss-off" a guest who just spent $8,000 to be there on their 3rd day of the stay. I got over it and enjoyed the rest of the vacation, but I will never stay at another Occidental property again. It's a shame as the resort was beautiful and my wife and I had been talking about bringing a large group down for a renewal of wedding vows.
