Disappointing... wasted vacation

I came to this resort with high expectations, just wanting to rest my feet in the water on a nice beach.
The vacation ended up as a disappointment:
- The resort does not really have a beach, just a small creek on which they imported alot of white sand (the nice 'Beach' picture you see on all the internet sites is all you get). The rest of the coast is pretty much a reef. For those who like pools, the resort is OK.
- During the course of my trip, the Tour Operator which booked the rooms (and took my money) went bankrupt. The hotel management reaction to the news was appalling: as the tour operator had not payed the hotel, they actually (physically) kept the guests from leaving until we had forked over the dough. Ruined both my vacation and pocketbook.
On the bright side, the Xcaret park, right next to the hotel is great!! And the hotel staff (management excepted) is both cordial and friendly.
