Fantastic Hotel

My wife & I went to Occidental Grand Flamenco Xcaret (ish-caret) June 16th 2003 and stayed for 14 nights. We read some negative reviews before we went and had our doubts but let me tell you this place is fantastic. The staff were very friendly and more than helpful and you can tell they all love doing their jobs with pride. The food in the restaurants is amazing, our favourite was La Hacienda. You can see the menus on the hotels website. Victor at the pool bar is a riot; he makes the most amazing cocktails and generates a fantastic atmosphere. The complex is so big that we never had problems getting sun beds at any of the pools or beach. The beach is the only thing I can see people not being happy with, it is man made, but my wife isn’t a confident swimmer so it was ideal. It is still excellent and full of sea life; there is also a pool bar with waiter service. The rooms are very spacious, with air con, TV, balcony and fridge with soft drinks and beer all part of the all-inclusive deal and these were restocked every day. With the hotel being next door to the Xcaret Park is a good bonus, you get one free visit and you can come & go during the day as you please because the hotel has it's own entrance. If you want to go again another day, its only $20 (cheaper than normal) if you book through hotel. We did the Dolphin Trainer for a day, well worth the cost; we spent over 5 hours in the water with the dolphins and got a video & photos included. We loved it so much we are planning to go back next year. Hope this helps…
