My boyfriend and I stayed at the Occidental for one week, and in general we enjoyed the hotel and its staff. The beach was a dissapointment, but the pools made up for the lack of beach. When we arrived at the hotel at around 10:30am, we had a room right away. They showed us how to get to our building, and someone brought our bags for us. That night we went to make dinner reservations, and we booked all the way through the week. We went later in the evening, they are open late, and so there was no line. The food was okay, better than I expected. Breakfast is a must!!! True, you can make only 4 reservations, but that is all we needed. The staff was very nice, and everyone said hi as you passed. I would go back to this hotel, and I will reccomend it to my clients-only if beach is not a priority to them. We did get locked out of our saftey deposit box one day, and two other couples said the same. Someone was there to fix in one hour. That would be the only complaint besides the convention that came in close to our departure. They ruined the resort's beauty by putting Tel Cel and Nokia signs everywhere!!! All and all we did like this resort.
