My husband and I both were very excited about this trip. Things started off bad however. We paid extra to have a limo pick us up from the airport and bring us to the resort, instead, we were told that there wasn't one available, and were shuttled onto a bus. Once we got to the resort, we were able to check in and were driven to our Casita. We were really glad that we had gotten the Casita with the view of the beach because we spent most of our time in the room SICK! I got sick the next morning after eating at one of the restaurants. We tried all of the restaurants while there (when we were able to go) I had massive stomach cramps among other things....what an icebreaker for the honeymoon! Anyway, by the 3rd day there, my husband also got sick. We believe it was from the food, as we only drank bottled water, and brushed our teeth with bottled water. Towards the end of the week, we wound up buying chips and crackers from the convenience store, and lived off of those! :( We were actually counting down the days until we could go home! It was miserable. The only good part was the view of the beach. It was very beautiful during the day, and at nights you could take a romantic walk along the lighted path.(If you didn't have massive stomach cramps and the need to be by the bathroom for most of the night!) If we wouldn't have gotten sick off of the food there, I believe that it would have been an awesome experience. Oh, and also, at night there are large cricket/roach looking bugs that come into your room...I woke up the first morning and screamed! There was one dead right next to the bed. The doors aren't sealed very well, and so you get those and other interesting bugs nightly. Also, the bath water was yellow and salty! That was another reason we couldn't wait to get home! We also did not receive our dinner for 2 on the beach...although, I'm pretty glad we didn't get it now...as it wouldn't have helped anything!!
Please feel free to email me with any questions you have about El Dorado...as I would have liked that opportunity when shopping around! Oh, and the Limo ride back to the airport was non- existant....instead we got a crazy taxi driver!! Never again!!
