My husband and I went to the El Dorado Royale in February 2003 for our honeymoon and were very impressed!!! It was amazing!!!

The food, staff, rooms, grounds, and beach were all best!!! I can't say enough great things about this resort. I know there are negative reviews out there (which I read before we went there and was a little hesistant), but I am here to tell you not to worry because it is perfect.

The staff was so nice and helpful all the time. They all remember your name and always have smiles on their faces. The food was amazing, though it does take awhile to get it sometimes, but it is worth it. And we weren't in any hurry while we were there. It was all about relaxing. And it was so romantic. Since we were honeymooners we received some special activities. These included a candlelight dinner on the beach, champagne delivered to our room a couple days we were there (a surprise), and a 30 minute class on how to give each other a swedish massage at the spa.

The hammocks were one of our favorite features at the resort. Each room has one on their balcony. Yes, you did have to get reservations for the dinners at the Italian, Mexican, and Oriental restaurants, and for our candlelight dinner, but we were told that before we got there, so we were prepared. It only took about 10 minutes in the morning to go make the reservations for the following night and then you were set. Some thought that was an inconvenience, but why, it's only 10 minutes. And yes, do make your reservations ahead of time. We met people there who were upset that they couldn't go to these special restaurants, but they just hadn't planned ahead. And even if you didn't get reservations, there was always La Isla, the nonreservation restaurant, and its food was just as good. Everything was sit down 4 course meals and the whole resort was SO BEAUTIFUL.

So if you are looking for a romantic place to relax and be well taken care of, this is the place for you!!! We are already planning a trip to go back! Oh ya, and the beach is rocky, but there is a large spot right in front of the resort by he dock that isn't very rocky where you can just walk in in bare feet. 5 stars all the way!!!
