The food, staff, room, cleanliness, bars, organization, and beach sand were all great. The only complaints I can think of is the room walls and roof letting noise in/out. The roof is thatch and the walls are typical 4 inch concrete. The units are 8 room condos. The beach is disappearing fast. If you find pictures from a few years ago and compare it to present ones you will see what I mean. Do not try to snorkel out front, you will see nothing. Having said that the resort is awsome. 5th Ave. is a great, close place to shop, hang out and party. The Ferry to Cozemel is at 5th Ave and very close, walk if you want. We went to Xcaret (15-20 min ride) and spend $100/person at the front desk for swimming with the dolphins and $125 to get into Xcaret. Do not waste your time with the hotel or street venders trying to get a deal unless you have a large group. Take a taxi there and back as we wasted alot of time (one or two mexican minutes) waiting for our tour group getting organized. Xcaret is huge and I wished we could have stayed another day. Cozamel has good snorkeling and we really did not stay there long enough. So we will definantly go back to Allegro playa car.
I can not imagine the above negative users experience/comments being accurate at all. More likely someone who does not like occidental AI. The food was all very good and meal times had a large window. We went with friends and kids. It is not a wild party place but there were a lot of younger to 25 year olds having a great time but the resort was well organized and kept the noise away from the rooms after ten pm. The only bars that were open were up at the lobby and I sleeped great. Go, you will love it!
