To begin my wife and I are avid divers, this was not our first trip to Belize, Nor are we unfamiliar with Caribean travel & resorts. Some are great, some are good, then there's places like Journeys End Resort.
My wife and I stayed at Journeys End November 2006, 6 nights 7 days. We picked the resort based on their advertising. What we experienced was not what they advertised.
Our room had no hot water 5 out of 6 days, Electicity was off a couple of days in a row. The pool was unusable as it was Very Cold even with a full dive wet suit on.
The food was good as well as service. BUT what they fail to tell you is when you check out there will be a 20%...yes 20% add on to your bill for tax and gratuity that they never told you about in brochure or at check in. Better to rent a golf cart and eat in town for all meals. Cheaper by a long shot and much more diverse fair.
Beach was unusable due to seagrass.
Diving was very good,Dive shop on site was very substandard for Belize.
Room was unlocked everyday we came back from diving.
The smell of sewer gas was present 24 hours a day through most of the resort.
I can go on and on but bottom line is if we had believed the complaints on the internet we wouldn't have stayed there. Will we return to Belize to dive??? yes just not at Journeys End Resort.
To Conclude their Houston Texas sales manager was there when we checked out, we told her about all of this and asked me to e-mail her with details so she could address them. To-date she has never responded.
It is unfortunate that there are places like this that rely on pretty pictures to lure you there and then treat you so you will never come back.
