Nice People - POOR DIVING OPERATION

I stayed for one week summer 2004 at Bananarama in Roatan.
This is a very unprofessional dive operation and did not meet the expectations of anyone in the large group of divers scheduled there for the week. The boats did not run for much of the time we were there. There were two instances when the boat was disabled while away from the shore -- on one occasion all divers came up to discover the boat was no where to be found.
Like most of Roatan, nothing runs on time, including this dive operation. Dives scheduled to start at 8:30am were often leaving at least an hour later. This was due to equipment (i.e. air) not being loaded onto the boat on time and boat malfunctions (i.e. a generator being loaded on board).
If you want to hang out on a beautiful beach and enjoy a nice staff and morning breakfast, this would be a fine place to go.
However, this is a supposed 'PADI Gold Star Dive Resort', and offers no such service. If you are a diver -- BEWARE -- you are diving at your own risk.
**Note: No refunds were offered for the multiple dives missed to boat malfunctions.
**Note: Roatan is beautiful and the people are very friendly. If you dive, you must do the shark dive with Island Outpost Adventures -- FANTASTIC!!! Otherwise, find a dive operation other than Bananarama so you can fully enjoy and experience this part of the Carribbean.
