Avoid Wyndham Fortuna Bahamas Resort
Traveler Review By: Amy from Calgary
Date of Visit: May 2006
Hi my name is Amy, and Im a travel consultant in Calgary Alberta. I recently planed a holiday at the Wyndham Fortuna property in the Bahamas. My boyfriend and I payed $1023.00 for 3 nights at this resort, which was way to much for what we got out of it. I am not a "high maitenance traveller", but for the money I paid I expected a clean room, and good service. I didnt think I would have to worry about this because of the Wyndham name, unfortunatly, this was not so. We arrived at the resort to a room with dirty floors and paint peeling from the walls, the safe didnt have a lock, which the not so friendly front desk informed me that I had to pick it up from them. The food wasnt very good, and when they ran out of chicken or deserts ect. they didnt replace it. I had to ask multiple times for a glass because they wouldnt even replace those, and the used plates stayed on our table until we left. The first show we went to had a white sheet for a back ground, and they didnt even have a show on Saturday night. The beach was wonderful, but there wasnt a beach bar, and the Hamburger/hotdog stand that was located just off the beach had to deep fry everything because there grill wasnt working ( deep fried bugers, gross). We also rented a electric car from the resort, which we rented for 2 hours so we could go to the Lucaya Market. The guy who gave us the car neglected to tell us we had to charge the car at some point, so we ended up on the side of the road with a dead car. We went to the closest house and asked where we could charge our car, thank god we were only a short distance from one of the charging stations. We arrived back at the resort and the rental people didnt charge us anything extra for the hour late drop off . The last night we were there I decided to set up a wake up call for early the next morning, we had our flight to catch. Well, we didnt reieve any wake up call, thank god I woke up!! I think this resort definatly has room for improvement, we did not enjoy our stay, and I would not recommend anyone to stay at this property.
