Review: Don't go there!
Foster's West Bay Restaurant has a lovely location on West Bay beach, and it seemed like a nice choice, especially on Sun/Mon when nearby (and excellent) Bite on the Beach is closed.

But food is inconsistent- we ordered the same dish twice. The first time is was excellent spicy fish fillets, the next it was a dried out, overcooked tiny whole fish.

Service is terrible, and unfriendly. Not only did they make mistakes, they then charged us for the erroneous items and claimed that only the owner/manager could cancel the charge. But we never managed to see the owner/manager, in 2 weeks on the island. As far as I'm concerned, they still owe us around $15.

And people sitting near the till (they looked like staff, but may have been friends of staff?)made offensive sexual comments as we passed by.

Finally, most week days, Fosters is overrun with cruise ship "package deal" clients, and will not bother with clients off the beach.

Bottom line: there are plenty of lovely places to eat in West Bay. Top notch and very reasonably priced Bite on the Beach; Paradise Beach villas and several snack bars. Or even cheaper, you can take a water taxi and go to West End. Don't bother with Fosters!

Price:
US$11 - US$20

Directions/Location:
West Bay Roatan

Just so people know there are two Fosters locations. One in West Bay, this review, and another Foster's Restaurant in West End. In West the the restaurant sits on "pier" extended into the water and offers a great view.

That's funny, I had the same experience with Bite on the Beach, terrible food, even worse service. Uppity, for no reason! Our group had a great time at Fosters West Bay Restaurant, and went there almost every day during our stay on Roatan. The owner, Marty, even brought a TV down from his upstairs condo for our buddy to watch an OSU football game!

I find the negative review difficult to believe. I just returned from Roatan last weekend and I had a wonderful experience at Fosters. I met Ray Anthony Foster one afternoon as he was walking with his children up the dock after closing the business for the day. I asked about taking a snorkel trip. Without hesitation he agreed to take me out right then and we had a wonderful three hour dive. He also took me on a tour of the island (no Extra Charge) he invited me to breakfast the following morning and we talked of life, family, and God. I found the entire family to be fine people and the staff very accomodating and respectful. I look forward to seeing them all again very soon.
