At Costa de Cocos your total vacation experience is what we care about.
Of course, your comfort is important to us. What you do and see is high on our priority list. This remote area, far from the world we know, and close to what we should care about is a natural wonderland. In this beautiful environment you may choose to paddle our sea kayaks, fly fish, scuba dive, snorkel, or just relax under the warm sun enjoying the Caribbean sea breeze.
The lagoons and jungle are a habitat to a large array of plant and animal life. The fishing village of Xcalak will give your stay at Costa de Cocos a Mayan touch not soon forgotten. The world's second longest barrier reef begins along Mexico's Caribbean coast, thus you will find diving here spectacular, rich with corals, and a large variety of tropical fish.
Exceptional snorkeling is right in the front yard, just a short swim off our dock. Panga boats can take you to other prime snorkel spots in the area, or on an excursion to Bird Island where tropical and migratory birds are abundant.
Costa de Cocos has been commended for our care of Nature's bounty and our commitment to ecotourism. Add to that the warmth, fellowship and concern for your comfort provided by David and Ilana Randall and you will find that Costa de Cocos is truly a special vacation place. |
Experience Costa de Cocos, a natural gateway to the best fly fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling and sea kayaking adventures on the Caribbean Coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. |
Our resort is set amidst the romantic coconut groves, surrounded by the Maya culture at the end of a long road. The Yucatan jungle, rich with wild life, is our back yard. The Caribbean, with all the wonders of the sea is at our front steps. When you are looking for a comfortable place to dive, fish, kayak, explore OR JUST RELAX we would like you to think of us on the Costa Maya, as your vacation destination.
At Costa de Cocos your comfort is very important to us. We have 16 individual private cabanas, built of traditional stonework, rich tropical woods and topped with native thatch roofs. Each cabana has a private bathroom with hot water and daily maid service.
Our stocked bar and cold cervezas are available for you anytime. A full continental breakfast is served every morning. Our restaurant stays open for lunch and at dinner we offer a four course meal with a Caribbean touch.
You'll appreciate our dedicated environmental conscience. Costa de Cocos has been commended for its care for nature's bounty and commitment to its respect. Starting in Isla Mujeres and running the entire way down to Costa Rica stretches the second longest reef in the world. One portion of this Costa Maya Barrier Reef lies a short distance away from our front steps. Here, you will find, the local diving along this reef is more than exceptional. Within a 5 to 20 minute boat ride off our dock, we have many dive sites available. With the guidance of our dive masters, you can experience walls, canyons, chimneys or "blue holes" offering incredible views of corals, fans, sponges, turtles and a variety of tropical fish. |
Drive to Costa de Cocos from Cancun
Drive south on the coast road Highway 307. (Be sure to fill your tank in Carrillo Puerto!). There is now a new PEMEX station, just east of the Xcalak turnoff.
Pass through the village of Limones, about 1 mile, and turn left at the Majahual turn off sign (this is a brand new paved, big road).
Drive south about 55 kilometers to the junction just west of Majahual. Turn right. THERE ARE NEW SIGNS MARKING THE TURN OFF TO XCALAK. [This is a new and paved road, may not be in the travel guides yet.]
Drive south about 55 kilometers to the end of the road. Turn left at the junction and follow the road through the town of Xcalak. (The road will bend left near the football/soccer fields.) Continue heading north out of town and over a bridge. The road parallels the shore. In about 2 kilometers you will arrive at Costa de Cocos on the right.
The trip will take approximately 4 - 4.5 hours.
Boat shuttle from San Pedro Belize to the dock of Costa de Cocos
Price is $195.00 USD for the boat, up to 6 passengers. Price does not include customs or immigration fees.
