Won't be making this mistake again.....
By: txlawgirl / corrie328 from Texas
Date of Visit: August 2007
Well, what can I say....I was really looking forward to wonderful vacation with my boyfriend after spending the majority of my summer studying for the Tx Bar Exam, and I thought this would be the perfect place. Boy was I wrong. Upon our arrival we just happened to run into Carlos who gave us our key and showed us to our cabana. Right away it was obvious that there were going to be some problems. The door wouldn't open, the window LITERALLY fell off the hinges when we tried to open it, the shutters on the side of the door were broken. And, as if that wasn't enough, we arrived the Thursday before hurricane Dean hit - the only flight out was on Friday, so we had to cut our trip short by 3 days. I'd prepaid 3days and was supposed to pay for the fourth day after we'd spent the first 3 nights there. I was supposed to be paying for 2 days in the $135 cabana and then 2 days in the $95 cabana (Carlos informed me after I paid the first 3 days that I would have to move into another cabana after the first 2 days). Anyhow - since we only spent 1 night and there was a category 4 hurricane fast approaching, I thought Carlos would be flexible about giving us at least $95 back for the 3rd night. NOT A CHANCE. And I certainly didn't appreciate his snide remarks when we attempted to negotiate at least this one night back from him.
In short, the beach was lovely......but the atmosphere that awaits you as soon as you step off the beach doesn't make the stay at Tierras Del Sol worth it in any sense whatsoever.

Paradise!
By: Chuck and Kathy from Michigan
Date of Visit: October 2003
We happened to stumble upon Tierras del Sol in October 2002. We were visiting Mexico for the first time to celebrate our anniversary. We have never been to a more romantic place in our lives! The cabana we stayed in was directly on the most beautiful beach we had ever seen, which a very friendly elderly gentleman kept spotless for us everyday. The cabana had a deck surrounded by seven swaying palms; three of which were growing out of the deck. The romantic charm of candles burning inside our cabana and all along the pathways of Tierras del Sol at night is unbelievable. The owner, Carlos went out of his way to make us feel like it was our place too. We stayed for four days that time and we went back again in March and then again in October 2003 and stayed a week each of those times. I was rather hesitant to write this review--I really don't want everyone finding out about this treasure. All three times we stayed at Tierras del Sol we were the only ones there. Unbelievable! We are now planning a family reunion for next February and plan to take my sister and her husband and our kids. We can't wait til then--snow's starting to fly here in Michigan.

Far Exceeded all Expectations
By: Anonymous from Colorado
Date of Visit: April 2003
We had a wonderful stay at Tierras del Sol- it was peaceful, restful, and relaxing. The owner was friendly and accomodating, and helped us to plan our outings. The cabanas were simple, very clean, and quite private, and surround a small courtyard area. All steps from the most beautiful beach we have ever visited, and one has a palm-covered deck with a hammock - ask for it! The services are simple - drinks, a sandwich, etc, but the property is near many other resorts and restaurants along the Boca Pailla, so we never lacked for great meals. Several cenotes are nearby, and all were worth visiting, and the Sian Ka'an biosphere is almost directly to the South so a short walk down the beach in this direction brought us to an absolutely pristine stretch of beach, abutting the jungle. We can't wait to return!
