The perfect beach getaway
By: Jim Foley from New Hampshire
Date of Visit: February 2003
Want more can you ask for? The perfect beach, clean lovely rooms (great bathrooms), gourmet foods and friendly attentive staff and all in an ecological correct manner.
Every vacation to the Yucatan, we make sure we spend at least a couple of days at 'Las Ranitias' and I recommend it highly.

Conde Naste overated
By: david from Denver, Colorado
Date of Visit: May 2001
My girlfriend and I were dissapointed at the room and the service we recieved while we were there. We were required to make a deposit on our arrival which was odd and not mentioned. We made a cash deposit and asked the manager for a reciept and for her to sign it. The rooms were in bad need of general maintainance(ie, holes in window screens, balcony floor was in dire need of sanding and painting, doors didn't close properly) We also had to deal with a major ant infestation in which we went to town to buy ant traps. We politely notified the property manager as to the situation when we first arrived. She noted it but nothing was done. Upon our leave, it was a huge hastle to find the property manager to refund our deposit. She basically avoided us the entire time we were there and especially when we asked for our deposit. She denied at first that we even made a deposit, but promptly reversed her statement when I produced the reciept with her signature. I don't know if our treatment was due to us being americans in a french owned resort, or what exactly the problem was. I would not recommend this resort to any person. We wrote a letter to Conde Naste about our experience since they rated this resort so highly. On the lighter side, Tulum is an absolutely amazing place. the beaches are incredible, the water is crystal clear, and it is not overdeveloped yet. I would highly recommend Tulum to couples for a romantic getaway.
