Cabañas Copal in Tulum, Mexico sits on a natural terrace and overlooks the spectacular Caribbean Sea and the pure white sand Tulum beach. An inexpensive, romantic, and beautiful hotel awaits you in Tulum, the heart of Mexico's Mayan Riviera.
Cabañas Copal Hotel Tulum is nestled in a small clearing in the tropical forest on top of a natural terrace which overlooks the most private beach in Tulum. All cabañas have direct beach access, and the hotel is just steps from the Caribbean Sea and the beautiful Tulum beach.
Cabanas Copal Hotel Tulum has a secluded feeling, quiet and tranquil, though it is located at the entrance of the Tulum Hotel Zone. Its central location also places the hotel only 3 km. from the seaside Tulum Mayan ruins, and within walking or bicycling distance from many of the Riviera Maya's crystal clear cenotes (natural freshwater pools that are perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or diving).
Cabañas Copal Hotel Tulum is ideal for the traveler who enjoys a natural beach hotel experience in a rustic environment. This lovely beachfront Tulum hotel has inexpensive cabanas of different styles, with lodging options perfect for honeymooners, families, independent travelers, and groups on a budget. All cabañas are romantically candlelit in the evenings, as there is no electricity on the Tulum beach. The beachfront side of the hotel has a wide series of windows, allowing the Caribbean sea breeze to enter and making the cabanas fresh and comfortable at any time of the year. |
Our own restaurant, located on the Copal premises, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast options include a wide choice of egg dishes, omelettes, quesadillas, fresh tropical fruit salads, and müesli. Freshly squeezed orange juice is available daily, as well as a variety of fresh tropical fruits blended with water or milk.
The lunch menu is simple: refreshing chilled soups and sandwiches. You can also request a box lunch to go if you are planning a day out.
Our dinner menu begins at 18:00 hrs. and includes a variety of fresh fish and seafood dishes such a lobster and shrimp, grilled chicken, and many vegetarian specials, such as vegetable soups and vegetarian crepes.
All dishes may be enjoyed in our comfortable open palapas. Room service is also available upon request, so you can enjoy your dinner in front of your palapa. |

The second site is called the “Piscina,” or swimming pool, and is a point where the seawater blends with fresh water flowing in from underground rivers. The final site is located on the coral reef with a depth of only two meters and a spectacular visibility.

If you choose to drive from the Cancún airport, take the highway south until you reach the crossroads leading to the Tulum hotel zone, where you will turn left, heading toward the sea. Once the road forks, turn right. We are the third resort, located just 700 m. from the fork in the road. From Cancún it is about 1 hour and 30 min. drive by car.
If you prefer a more economical method of traveling south from the airport to Copal, you can now take a bus to Playa del Carmen directly from the Cancún International Airport! The new Riviera bus line leaves the airport for Playa at 7:00, 8:00, 9:00, 10:30, 11:45, 13:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00, 18:15, and 19:30 hrs. daily (about $6.50 usd. per person, 45 minutes). From Playa del Carmen, you can take either a first- or second-class bus to the Tulum pueblo (about $3.50 usd. per person, two or more hours). First class buses are faster than second class ones, as they do not make as many stops along the highway. Alongside the Tulum pueblo bus station you will find a taxi stop, where you can take a cab directly to Cabañas Copal (about $3.50 per car, maximum four people per vehicle, about ten minutes).
If you are arriving on a late flight, it is recommended that you take a transfer to Copal, as the ride is much shorter (one and a half hours, as opposed to more than three if you miss the last Riviera bus). If you are not able to take the Riviera bus directly to Playa del Carmen, you will have to take a combi (van) from the Cancún airport to the Cancún city bus terminal (about $8 usd. per person, one hour). From the bus station, you can take a first- or second-class bus directly to Tulum pueblo (about $3.50 usd. per person, two or more hours).
The fastest and easiest way to reach Copal from the Cancun airport is with a direct transfer, which we can have arranged for you. The same transfer service is available for your return to the Cancún airport. Our transfer service runs 24 hours. No time is too late for us!
Transfers are less expensive than taxis and more comfortable and more convenient than taking the bus from Cancun city to Tulum pueblo. By transfer, it is about one hour and thirty minutes to Copal from the Cancun airport. If you are interested in placing a reservation for a transfer, please e-mail us with your airline name, departure city, flight number, and time of arrival.
We need at least 48 hours advance notice to book a transfer; please plan ahead.
Please see http://www.cabanascopal.com/viewCabanas/directions.html for transfer rates.
