Wonderful place
By: Anthony Wilkinson from Waltham, Grimsby, England.
Date of Visit: June 2008
We stayed for two weeks in June 2007, and had a superb time. The food was excellent, both in the self service buffets and in the a la carte restaurants. Staff could not do enough to help, maids were very good. We had a problem one day when we disturbed the maid by coming ack from the beach early, and she was still cleaning the room. This must have upset her because when we came back later she had forgotten to leave fresh towels. A telephone call to reception, and ten minutes later we were refilled TWICE. This was the kind of service we experienced all the time we were there. We have aleady booked for a second visit in June 2009, and can't wait.

Beware of the Hacienda
By: Nicole Gloden-Buysse from France, Thionville
Date of Visit: September 2003
We spent 14 days at the Bahia Principe Tulum. The resort is nice, but be prepared to cohabitate with a lot of (very small) ants in your room. They are regularly exterminated (upon request), and usually this is quite effective for a few days. The personnel is very friendly and the food is correct: good quality and ABUNDANT. Just one MAJOR warning: do NOT buy jewelry at the so-called 'serious' jewelry shop of the Hacienda: it's a rip-off. I made the mistake of buying some jewelry there (a few rings and bracelets). The person in charge of the jewelry shop at the Hacienda assured me that it was solid silver. When I brought one of the bracelets to a local jewelry shop here in Luxembourg, they informed me it was plated lead (!!), and not at all solid silver. Also, the so-called 'marquisettes' with which the bracelet and the rings were decorated turned out to be painted glass, instead of regular marquisettes. So I paid the price of solid silver for some junk which I could have bought from any street-vendor at a tenth of the price. I can understand being ripped off if I take the risk of buying something from a street vendor. On the contrary, I do NOT accept being ripped off in a shop belonging to a so-called 'resort' with a certain standing. So Bye bye Mexico - that's the very last you've seen of us! Keep on treating your tourists as assholes and see where it gets you.

great place to relax
By: Natalie from Edmonton,Alberta
Date of Visit: May 2002
I went with my boyfriend and we had a great time. The pool and beach areas are extensive with wonderful curtious service. The food was excellent both buffet and a la carte. There was really nothing to complain about. Great for a relaxing vacation but not a party spot. I would completely recommend it to others especially the tours that you can go on.
