Manta Lodge, located at the northeastern corner of the island in the sleepy fishing village of Speyside, is nestled on the fringe of the Montane Rain Forest, the oldest rainforest preserve in the Western Hemisphere. Embellished in olde world caribbean elegance, the property is small with only 22 rooms, but still features all the 'big' amenities.
Fine dining is an important part of Manta Lodge with breakfast, lunch and diner served daily. Meal plans are available and can be tailored to meet you needs. Some of the exciting local foods you may see on the menu include adventurous things like:
Buljol and fried or roast bake: Salted fish combined with various seasonings served in heavy bread.
Pigeon peas soup: rich soup made with local peas full of vegetables and dumplings.
Choka and Sada Roti: Fried tomatoes or eggplant highly seasoned and served with a soft thin bread.
Pelau: A combination of rice, vegetables and one or more types of meat cooked in a rich coconut milk.
