Fantastic holiday
By: Denni & Mandy from Kent, UK
Date of Visit: November 2003
We have just spent a 2 week stay at the Grafton. The rooms are quite basic, but then you only sleep in them! However, they were cleaned daily and clean sheets and towels daily. The food was excellent and the restaurant staff could not do enough for you. Not like other resorts - when they know it's your last day, they all want to wait on you for your tips, well this wasn't at all like that. The hotel needs some painting and there isn't internet access as advertised but there is an internet cafe on the bottom road out of the hotel at $15 TT an hour (approx. £1.50). The staff have a very laid back attitude which I feel helped us relax. There is a general shortage of sunloungers so you have to be up early to get one, but then it was too hot to lay in bed. Be very careful when booking trips as we were caught for one by FRANKIES TOURS! Although the trip on the day wasn't too bad, my watch 'disappeared' and the only people on the boat were the owner and a member of the staff. When I enquired about my missing watch, 3 different staff gave me 3 different stories. When I reported this, I then discovered that earlier this year, the same tour company had a boat crash, and people were injured and they were not insured through FRANKIES TOURS and there were also no lifevests on board, SO USE A REPUTABLE COMPANY. The hotel offers trips and so do your reps so use them instead. When you meet the Aloe Vera man, tell him you saw him on the net and he will go away and not bother you again! If you want a treat or a laugh, ask for KELTON! He doesn't work at the hotel but he uses the hotel so is recommended by them. He is an Aston Villa supporter and sent his car away to be designed inside with the AV colours and when it came back, the colours were wrong and the whole car inside has been done in Purple and Turquoise! He is a good bloke and looked after us and also took us to Sunday School and made sure we were all ok all of the time. You have to see the car! He is Tobago's answer to Eddie Murphy! Overall the holiday was fantastic. Well worth the money and we will definately return. A visit to the SeaHorse Restaurant next door is well worth the trip too. Excellent food and top quality service and in a wonderful tropical setting.
