Acajou offers eco-tourism at its finest and fullest: unspoiled tropical nature surrounded by ocean, river, and lush mountains. Each of the six rooms available is an individual unit and varies in size and style but all sport their own sun deck , where one can have a very decorated view of the beach.
Acajou is located on the remote, scenic North Coast of Trinidad, in the small fishing village of Grande Riviere. Here you'll find peace, tranquility, and nature. Giant turtles lay their eggs on the beach, fish swim in the river, and birds sing in the trees. The river, mountains, and beach all beckon to be explored, experienced, and appreciated.
Acajou is aimed at the eco-conscious traveler who gets the opportunity to bask in primitive beauty of Grande Rivière. It's the ideal choice for bird-lovers and turtle watchers to indulge their passions to no end.
While birds can be spotted year round, from March - September the giant Leatherback turtles provide a spectacular site as they come to lay their eggs on the moonlit beach. It's rivaled by the anticipation of the hatchlings which emerge from the sand.
Roland Fruytier and Laure First, found home in the village of Grande Rivière. They now offer wander thirsty souls the chance to sample their offering of Trinidad.
Flanked by the wide expanse of vegetation on the steep hills of the Northern range, with a view of the blue Caribbean sea, Acajou (the French for 'tropical wood') offers travelers the opportunity to be one with nature, to view it's beauty in it's simple majesty, to rest to the soothing music of the ocean, to meditate on it's treasures or have a unique candlelight dinner.
