It Was Just OK
By: Taneya from Chicago, Illinois
Date of Visit: August 2006
We stayed in a junior suite which had an extra large balcony that gave way to spectacular views. The floors, including the shower floor were initially very clean and we felt comfortable walking around barefoot. However, as the days spent at the beach began to multiply I refused to walk around without shoes seeing as how cleaning the dirty floors was not a priority to the cleaning staff.
The curtains and bedspread were old and dank, I abhorred touching them. Each day, before I sat on the bed I would remove the comforter. Other than that the bed was fine, comfortable with fluffy pillows and clean sheets at least every other day to 2 days . . .same rotation on the towels. I would say each day the room was straightened up VERY well but I do not consider that cleaning.
Neither of the resort restaurants offer breakfast so the front desk recommended we go next door to the Wyndam. What a disappointment, 18.00 per person for a "continental breakfast" buffet that really is not very tasty. Overall, we did not find any restaurant on the island that did breakfast very well. In the end, the best we found was the "Havensight Cafe" in the Havensight Mall. The two older women that run the place are sweeter than sugar and nothing is priced over 6.00 or 7.00 dollars.
As far as Pleasant Point staff is concerned, some work harder than others. Make a request to a young front desk attendant and 24hrs later nothing is done, just lazy and unconcerned. Ask someone at the front desk who has more experience and the problem is solved literally within 2 minutes.
We did not use the pool or not visit the property beaches, we did see that one of the beaches does sit in front of an abandoned hotel, from a distance it did not look maintained, and the second was shared with the Wyndam but we had already lost all desire to associate ourselves with that hotel. Also, we weren't able to take care of the free snorkel gear since the property restaurant that issues it opens at 11:00 and we were gone by 9:00 every morning.
No matter where you stay, RENT A CAR, (Jeeps are extra fun!!!) Eat at as many "local" spots as you can, it will save you money and the food will generally taste better, and if you don't intend to spend too much time in your room, Point Pleasant may be perfect for you. If you just want to chill in your room and enjoy the property grounds, seek accommodations elsewhere.

LOVED IT!!! Wouldn't stay anywhere else but PP
By: Anonymous from Glenwood City, Wisconsin
Date of Visit: June 2003
PP was great and I want to GO BACK!!! I would be happy with staying at PP every vacation. Staff was great and fun, 3 beaches with in 5/10 min walking distance, wonderful view, and great food. We went to Red Hook to get groceries. Coki Beach was wonderful, beautiful, relaxing, and safe. Great dining. Hands down to Desmond at the Agave Terrace, great staff! Fungis was also great. Good, fun music and great company. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Beautiful views of St John & the BVI's
By: Mimi from Florida
Date of Visit: December 2003
All the villas are built into the side of the mountain, in the middle of a nature preserve. We stayed in D-17, a one bedroom superior suite on the top of the mountain and the views from the balcony (and every room in the suite) were incredible. We enjoyed walking through the nature trails to beautiful Pineapple Beach, to swim in the three swimming pools, to get a burger and a tropical drink at Fungi's while watching the sunset, or dining at the Agave Terrace and watching the moon rise over St John and the British Virgin Islands. You can walk to Coki Beach and Coral World and the ferry to St John is only a 5 minute ride. I was disappointed that neither of the two restaurants on the property were open for breakfast. Even though there's a full kitchen in the suite, we arrived late and did not have a chance to pickup some groceries beforehand. However, there was a coffeemaker and a supply of coffee, and it was only a short walk to the Grand Bay Resort on Pineapple Beach which had a nice breakfast buffet. We also enjoyed the complimentary bottle of rum and coke that was waiting for us in our room. For people who don't like to walk, there is a shuttle bus. We loved Point Pleasant and will definitely visit again.

Not for Everybody
By: Anonymous from Cincinnati, OH
Date of Visit: July 2003
First the good things. The view from our room was superb with a large patio deck. The unit was spacious (we had the deluxe one bedroom suite). The location is good, easy to get to and lots on the northeast end of the island.
Now the not so good. The thru wall AC units were noisy. The complex is generally past its prime, just run down throughout. The pools are small and when we wanted to use them, early AM, we got booted out because the staff was cleaning them. The beach is a bit of a walk and is located directly in front of the Renaissance Resort next door. It has a much nicer pool but technically, you're not supposed to use it. The shuttle on the resort grounds was responsive anytime but inconvenient (necessary though since the grade was guite steep.
All and all, we wished we had spent a few more dollars for a better resort.
