NEW MANAGEMENT-NOT WHAT I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE

First, let me say that I have been to St. Thomas many times though out the last 12 years and have never had a problem with any of the rentals. I was very disappointed in my stay at Pelican Path. The property is not in very condition and there was construction work going on right next door the entire time I was there. Every morning we were woken up by saws, and hammers. The air conditioning did not work very well and the owner lives directly on the property. None of these issues were mentioned on their web-site. The best part of all is that they kept part of our deposit and charged us for ridiculous items such as toilet paper, paper towels, a screen door that we did not even open, a broken glass, a worn out knob from a kitchen cabinet. They also charged us $20 to move a clock from the bedroom to the kitchen and $200.00 for water and electricity. Beware that if you stay here you will need to wash any bath towels or swimming towels you use. Unfortunately, there is no washer and dryer on site. The only positive part was Hull Bay snorkeling. There are plenty of rentals out there and I would not recommend this one to anybody.

Warning.Read before you rent from Pelican Path, Hull Bay, St.Thomas

Renters beware! Owner is a scammer, they kept our security deposit. They charged us $200 for excessive water and electricity usage. Even though they had not received the bills yet. We did everything to conserve the resources. They stated it was at their discretion. They charged us $20 for toilet paper!!! $20 for washing 2 dishes left in the sink plus a whole host of other tasks, such as $20 to move a clock back downstairs, we moved the clock upstairs as the one upstairs did not work. Be warned that they expect you to wash the bath towels or you will be charged. However, they are no facilities on site, therefore you will need to spend time out of your vacation to do laundry!!
They did not mention the construction going on all around the property, so expect to be wakened at 8am by the sound of pneumatic hammers and electrical saws.
The website did not advise us that the owners also live on the property. Therefore there is no privacy. The owners and their extended family also use the pool.
The property is in need of some renovations. The A/C does not work well, and we turned it off during the day to conserve energy.
We have been to St Thomas four times in the last seven years, so we know what to expect. Our friends, who have lived on the island for over 20 years, are embarrassed that this type of scam goes on in their special island.
St Thomas is a wonderful place to visit, we highly recommend it. Just don’t stay at Pelicans Path in Hull Bay.

Restful beauty

We have stayed at Pelicans Path on several occasions, all of which have been most enjoyable. The owner, Barbara, is delightful and most helpful. She has been involved in the hotel/guest house business in St Thomas for many years. We first met her some 20 years ago and have stayed with her ever since - first at a small guest house on the south side of the island and now at Pelicans Path. This is a first rate place if you want peace and quiet and beautiful scenery. The units are clean and bright and the pool is private and restful. Highly recommended!
