Resort has gone downhill.

My wife and I are owners at the Sapphire Beach Club. This was our first visit in many years. A coat of paint and new drapes would go a long way. I don't know what the special assesment is going for, but many owners are not paying. There is a lawsuit.

Sapphire - huge disappointment

Visited Sint Maarten in April 2007, stayed at Sapphire Beach Club, first time back there in 5 years. This was a great disappointment.
Good news: you don’t have to pay for the hair dryers any more; had hot water most (not all) of the time.
Other news… well, there were many cockroaches in the room...
Service is totally awful. At least 6 items in the room missing, damaged, or unworkable when I arrived; 5 still completely ignored by maintenance when I checked out 5 days later.
There’s rust on the kitchen appliances, even rust on the silverware you’re supposed to eat with.
Furniture is in bad shape. Table, chairs are still cheap plastic: I just found the same dining room table and all four chairs on the internet for $29. Cushions, curtains have holes worn through, have not been cleaned in 10 years, are absolutely filthy. Internet service is vintage 1998. Store is very small, prices are outrageous.
Food in the restaurant is only fair, but expensive. We found the restaurants in Maho and Simpson Bay to offer much better food, lower prices.
Staff reported RCI Gold Crown status was revoked years ago. At the rate this property is deteriorating, it’s probably gone forever.
People who stayed at the Ocean Club next door reported same beach and view, better quality rooms for $50 per night less.

Please save your money--so dirty!

This place doesn't even come close to what they charge you. The room may have had a nice view, but I tried to stay out of the room as much as I could since it was infested with bugs (in the bathroom) and there was mold growing on the curtains and refrigerator. It was very dirty and the shower kept overflowing onto the floor, creating a huge pool of water that we had to mop up everytime we took a shower. The housekeeping staff was rude and unaccomodating--maybe they forgot that we were paying their salary/wages?! I would not recommend this place to anyone. Its in serious need of a remodelling job.

Wonderful Time

We've had such a wonderful time as renters over the last 5 yrs on the island that we bought our own timeshare at Sapphire Beach. The building was being painted and fabric being replaced in unites. We spoke to may of the guest and got positive feed back from all
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
One negitive is that the beach is almost gone, but plenty of beach within a very short walk.

Ist impressions

it was our first visit to the Island last year and I can honestly say that we had a wonderful holiday. All the staff were pleasant and very helful. If we had a problem the maintainence man was there to rectify it before we even got back to the room. Reception, reservations and the activities director were absolutly brilliant. The room was always clean and spotless. we enjoyed it so much we are going back there again this year

Dont stay here...

The hotel is in desperate need of remodeling! The rooms are not that nice, no hot water,jacuzzi didnt work! The bar staff is 2 frenchmen and they are very rude, we sat at the bar for 35 min. and could not get a drink or there attention! The only good thing is the front desk personnel, they were very helpful on suggestions of where to go and get excellent service.
