BRILLIANT

I have stayed at the Rex St Lucian TWICE. It is the best hotel on the island it has everything a hotel should have. It has brilliant entertainment, the staff are really friendly and always have time to chat to you.
The view from the hotelis fantastic. The beach is brilliant and it is peaceful. The beach vendors do kind of try and get you to buy things but after a couple of times they get the message and leave you alone, but that doesn't mean they don't stop talking to you altogether they still chat to you.
During the day is the safest time to leave the hotel, but at night you are advised not to leave the grounds. The Rex has everything at hand including a shopping mall, a few bars etc all within 5 - 10 minutes walking distance from the hotel.
If you want a good time then stay at the Rex St Lucian.

BORRRING
By: A Gentry from Connecticut
Date of Visit: July 2005
We just returned from St. Lucia and I would not recommend the Rex to anyone.
Upon arrival to the island we got jacked by the porter for $10 to move our bags 6 feet to the taxi. Then at the resort our room was clean, but the bed had a horrible musty smell to it and I slept on the little wicker couch in the room for most of the week. I know this is the tropics and have traveled to similar islands before, but the ants were every where in our bathroom.
Then there are the pushy vendors on the beach, it is true that they will leave you alone after you tell them repeatedly that you are not interested; it was like trying to get a telemarketer off the phone, but you can't hang up on these people. If you like to dance and have a good time do not go to the Rex. The place dies after 8pm and their idea of entertainment is to sit and watch some guy play piano. Zzzzzzz We ended up buying a bottle of vodka and drinking in our room at night playing cards.
The staff is very nice, well most of them are, there were a few with a stick up their asses and it was almost like we were bothering them. I think some of the problem with the resort is that we were the only Americans there and everyone else was English. I'm sorry England but you guys wouldn't know a good time if it sat on your face and wiggled. =)
We went off the resort several times and we felt fairly safe during the day, but I wouldn't recommend it at night. It is a 3rd world country and these people are poor so watch your back. I don't know if I would go back to the island, but I do know that I will never stay at a Rex resort again.
So in closing if you want to sit on a beach and do nothing at night, go there. If you want to have a good time at night do not go there. you will be in your room most of the time. By the way what is with the men having to wear pants at night. It was like 400 degrees and we got turned away from one place because my husband was wearing tailored shorts and a linen shirt.

REX ST LUCIAN - THE TRUTH!!!
By: Alistair Simm from Bolton, England
Date of Visit: July 2003
We have just returned from a 2 week holiday to the Rex St Lucian and we wanted to tell the truth about what the Rex is really like. We had read other reviews on the web that gave the Rex a bad reputation but when we got there they couldnt be further from the truth.
The hotel is set right on Reduit beach - the best beach on the island. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms(although quite basic) were clean. 24 hour security gave you reassurance without making you feel intimidated. You will be approached by beach vendors but just tell them if you arent interested and they will leave you alone. The hotel wasnt over crowded and we always managed to find our 'own' part of the beach or poolside. We only stayed B&B and our only complaint was that the food and drinks served in the hotel were expensive compared to other bars and restaurants nearby. The Rex is situated within walking distance of places to eat and drink. We can highly recommend the Indian restaurant Razzamatazz - a must for curry lovers and veggies alike. Elinas icecream palour at the side of Pizza Pizza is worth a visit for the wonderfully creamy icecream. We can also recommend a day trip on the tall ship Brig Unicorn - a full day cruise that is ideal for sightseeing the island.
If you want a relaxing holiday, on a beautiful island, in an ideal location you cant go wrong with the Rex St Lucian!!
