Relax in your own romantic, tropical villa high atop the Caribbean waters of St. John, US Virgin Islands. Two large master suites and three twin sofas. Water sports include swimming, sailing, snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, wind surfing, and scuba diving.
About the House Villa Margherita is a fully furnished and provisioned vacation home. The villa has two large and private air-conditioned master suites, each with its own bath. Additional sleeping space (more appropriate for children) is available in the den on three twin sofas. A half bath upstairs adds to the convenience. The home also has laundry facilities, cable TVs and VCRs, a DVD player and CD player. Internet access is easily available over the phone line.
The kitchen is complete for any cooking you may wish to do and there are also a gas grill and wet bar on the patio downstairs by the large whirlpool spa. The house is only a five minute drive from the nearest beach. Coolers, beach chairs, and towels are provided.
About St. John St. John is the smallest of the three US Virgin Islands. Located 55 miles east of Puerto Rico, the island is 3 miles wide by 9 miles long. The climate is tropical with temperatures varying from an average of 78 - 84 degrees in the winter to 80-90 in the summer. There are approximately 4,000 full time residents. The population on the island is higher during the high season, December through April. English is the language spoken. Two-thirds of this lush green island is National Park land with miles of pristine beaches, hiking trails and unspoiled natural scenery. Every year its beaches are voted some of the most beautiful in the world. Water sports include swimming, sailing, snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, wind surfing, and scuba diving (equipment rentals available). Other activities such as horseback riding and mountain biking are just minutes away from Villa Margherita. St. John is truly a vacation paradise and there is no better way to enjoy the island than to relax in your own private villa. How do I get to St. John? Most major airlines fly from the continental US to St. Thomas airport. (Please bring your passport or a photo id and birth certificate to facilitate returning home. A passport is required to visit the neighboring British Virgin Islands.) From the airport on St. Thomas, it's a short taxi ride to the ferry and a lovely 15 minute ferry ride into picturesque Cruz Bay, St. John. On the harborside you will be greeted by our guest services manager who will take you to the villa. Do I need to rent a car? Since Villa Margherita is located on the tranquil east end of St. John, seven miles from Cruz Bay, it is necessary to have your own car. When planning your vacation, the manager will help you reserve a car to fit the size of your group, and have it available for you when she meets you at the ferry. Also, you may stop at one of the many grocery stores on route to the house to buy provisions. Driving is on the left, but the cars are left-hand wheel American. You'll soon get the hang of it. What kind of money is used on St. John? Since St. John is part of the United States, dollars are the currency in use. Banks are, for the most part, branches of large stateside banks and ATMs are available, but it's a good idea to bring some cash and/or traveler's checks. Also, credit cards are accepted almost everywhere. What about restaurants? St. John has a wealth of restaurants for every taste and budget. From beachside burgers to native West Indian, from Northern Italian to elegant Asian fusion, from Latin American (can you say "tango?") to candlelit seafood, the restaurant scene is great. How about shopping on St. John? The days when people had to shop on St. Thomas are over. St. John has many excellent and interesting shops throughout the island offering a range of goods including fine jewelry and watches, clothing, fabrics, local and imported arts and crafts, and nautical souvenirs. Two attractive shopping centers in Cruz Bay are Mongoose Junction and Wharfside Village. The emphasis of St. John shopping is the best of world shopping alongside beautiful one-of-a-kind items of a unique island character. What kind of nightlife will I find? Although St. John is a quiet, peaceful island, there are plenty of places to go in the evening to hear live music, dance, and socialize. Not all the action occurs in Cruz Bay either, as Coral Bay, with its casual yachting community, has blossomed in recent years. Still, an evening at home listening to music and watching the stars from the patio or the spa can be an ideal end to a busy day. |
