Horrible Hotel
By: Anonymous from Rhode Island
Date of Visit: February 2008
The Viva Wyndham Maya was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. It was suppose to be an all inclusive hotel with three restaurants that you could eat at, when my family and I went to make reservations on the second day all three restaurants were booked for the entire week. So we were stuck eating at the buffet for every meal like many other families. The service at the buffets was one of the good things about the resort they were fast, helpful and polite. The front desk on the other hand was not so helpful. Our refrigerator was broken when we called for a replacement it took three phone calls and a trip to the front desk to finally get one. Our iron was also broken but when we called for a new one it came right up. The room was not what we expected. The room had no where to sit no chair or desk and there was no bureau which meant living out of a suit case for a week which was not enjoyable. The television had twenty channels and five were in English they had static lines. The staff was very friendly but barley anyone spoke English the front desk and a few staff members were the only ones who spoke English so it was very hard when we needed something. The weather was amazing and the ocean was nice, but the beach had gigantic sand bags which made it impossible to swim there was only designated areas where you could swim. Overall the people in Mexico are very friendly and they do there best to help you but the Viva Wyndham Maya is not the next vacation for you unless you want to waste you money on an outdated hotel.

a week at viva maya
By: young angelique from cape cod, mass
Date of Visit: December 2006
On the good side, we found the hotel and property very clean and orderly. Both the hotel staff and the people of the nearby city were always pleasant and helpful. The beach, although small, is very beautiful.
On the down side, the food was consistantly of poor quality and often dishes were offered with no indications of what they were. Every single day there were not enogh plates or glasses for all to have and we had to wait while dirty ones were washed. This is not 4-star service.
The hotel also has a large number of commission-based sales people endlessly bothering everyone day after day to purchase a time share deal. They just couldn't accept no and this is our biggest reason to not recommend the place. After the first two days of being hounded, we knew we'd never return.

Pluses: Loads of things to do and lots of activities for kids of all ages. We brought our kids (age range 7-17) all had a great time and were worn out by the end of the day.
