Can't wait to go back
By: Anonymous from Georgetown Kentucky
Date of Visit: July 2003
I found this place by accident while looking for a place to take my future wife on a honeymoon to Flordia. I can only say this place was well beyond our expections. They went out of their way to make us feel like royalty. I can't wait to go back. Yes the food at the buffet is different but you are in Mexico. The reef grill and French restarants are out of this world. Try the mexican wines all very good. To show the level of service My wife wanted to move her chair one night to see the ocean at dinner and the waiter came over an said let me do that pretty lady. They went out of their way to do every little thing for you. I can't image a better hotel

Highly Recommend this Hotel
By: John Knudsen from Georgia
Date of Visit: May 2006
I was hesitant at first to bring my two boys mainly because I had never been to Cancun before but I do not beleive my wife and I have ever been so impressed with a Hotel, service and the friendly staff. Our boys lived in the pool and had absolute blast everyday. Everywhere you go on the hotel grounds everyone is so kind and sincere while taking care of you, it blew us away. The food was amazing as well, I would put it up against any non-inclusive hotel anywhere. I have been to Hawaii several times, granted this is not the Grand Wailea but I would go back to the Paradisus Rivera anytime.

Date of Visit: March 2003
In march 2004 i stayed at the paradisus riviera cancun. It was the best trip i have ever been on in many ways. The staff is outstanding!! The food is great. yes there is line ups for dinner reservations but it is not as bad as people describe in other reviews. you guys need to stop reading these things and just go there and check it out for yourself. It is awesome for people of all ages. yes teenagers will have fun. Especially on spring break. You gotta go into cancun for atleast one night. The bars are incredible. so overall i would say this is an awesome resort. just go relax and have an awesome time.

Definitely worth it!

Date of Visit: August 2003
What a terrific place! So well kept, so well maintained. They do pay attention to every single detail. The rooms were always and impecable, although they forgot to scrub the jacuzzi once. No biggie! The food could be better though. It is the standard westernized, Americanized version of meals, convenient and accessible but not an experience. What is all this moaning of not being able to find reservations at the restaurants? They are terrific options to have, and if you really want to try them all, please do reserve in advance, maybe even before departing. Then again, why would I want to go for Japanese, Mediterranean, or French when I am in Mexico?? Grab a cab to Playa del Carmen or Mercado 28 and ask the cabbie for recomendations. I believe that dinning is a tremendous part of the experience in a trip to a foreign country, but only when the local cuisine is enjoyed in an area that has the local atmosphere. Playa del Carmen has nice restaurants with a nice dose of the true Mexican flavor (Tomatillo with Guacamole Sauce for instance)while catering to a lot of preferences. Suffice to say that a couple of cab drivers told me that the staff won't touch the food at the resort, not because they are not allowed, but because they do not find it apealing. One of the nicest things is that the most of the resort staff is bilingual. Should you feel you had problems comunicating, then you should have learned more Spanish. After all, YOU are traveling to Mexico, it is their turf. They are already making the effort, you do yours to enhance your experience. The free snorkeling trips (they provide you with the gear)are really nice, although the area is better suited for scuba diving, which incidentally, is offered at bargain prices by Mystic Divers. If you have the time and spirit, you could get certified in four days, not to mention you will have a terrific time with the staff. For better snorkeling, take the trip to Xel-Ha. I recomend Olympus tours to book it. Call them in advance if possible. Xel-ha also offers snuba and sea-trekking. You will find out more when you get to the park. Another thing that bothered me (other than the reservation policy for everything) was the lateness for a lot of things, so make sure to give at least a 1/2 to 1 hour window when requesting service. The Adults Only pool was really nice! Pure relaxation. The beach was also nice, although we had some seasonal seaweed. Did not bother me though. That's what you get when you are so close to the reef (a true plus!). I do not think I can say much more, other than be prepared to reserve in advance. Next time, I will call Olympus tours and book trips prior to my flight, book more scuba trips with Mystic Divers, and perhaps make a reservation for one of the 'Gourmet' restaurants... Then again I will skip the restaurants... After I will be in Mexico and will want to sample more of their cuisine... Can't wait to go back.

A wonderful resort
By: Anonymous from Columbia, MD
Date of Visit: April 2003
My wife and I just returned from five fantastic days at the Paradisus Riviera. I cannot express how pleased we were. This is a wonderful resort. We had a suite with an ocean view and our own butler for the week (thank you Lucio). The grounds were spectacular and the food, the food was terrific. We ate at two of the “reservations” restaurants, Capri and Sumire, both were great. Most of our meals were at the Caribbean Marketplace buffet and it always had a nice variety of dishes. The resort staff were very helpful and courteous, rooms were freshened daily, and then a turn-down service was provided at night. In the restaurants your glass was never allowed to empty and dirty plates were whisked away almost as soon as you finished with them. This is an all-inclusive resort so all food and beverages were “free.” This included room service and mini-bar. The resort offered currency exchange and had on-site car rentals and Olympus tour representatives. Also offered were daily trips to Cancun and free Internet access in the Royal Service lounge. At the beach boats were freely available as were scuba and snorkeling outings.
For anyone considering a visit to the Cancun area, please consider the Paradisus Riviera. I would recommend that you opt for the “Royal Service” and that you make reservations for restaurants and trips to Cancun prior to your arrival, as spaces are limited. We’ve been home for two days now and so wish that we had booked a longer stay – there is just so much to do. We went snorkeling at Xel-Ha and toured the ruins of Tulum, took a taxi to Playa del Carmen for shopping and took scuba lessons at the resort and ate, and ate, and ate…
It was truly a wonderful vactation.
