Wow!
By: Laura Nelson from Riviera Maya
Date of Visit: May 2007
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 10nights and were very sad to return home! The whole Mexican experience was amazing! The hotel was fabulous and we never had one complaint throughout. Everyone we spoke to there felt the same. The staff were incredibly friendly and would do anything in their power to help you. Our room was beautiful and we particularly enjoyed the use of the in-room jacuzzi. The free minibar was restocked daily with bottled wmineral water, beer, sprite and coke. The food was incredible and beautifully presented. We will definately return and fear going anywhere else incase it can't match our new-found expectations. We would highly reccommend :)

Nice place but I guess I went on a bad week
By: Anonymous from Texas
Date of Visit: March 2007
To start, the place has a first class look. Not as nice as the El Dorado Royale but still very nice. The food, once it was served, was outstanding. Not all but most of the staff was very nice and friendly. However, it would help if they would add more of them. Hopefully, then guest could eat and receive their drinks in a reasonable amout of time. I won't be back.

Honeymoon Paradise
By: Tiffany Buglar from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Date of Visit: July 2005
My fiancee and I recently stayed here for our honeymoon and absoultely loved it. Everywhere we turned, we just knew we were on our honeymoon. It was everything we expected and more. The service was fantastic (especially room service; prompt and courteous). The managers of the Casita Suites were very helpful and accomodating. The entire resort was very clean and beautifully landscaped.

A Gem
By: James from Regina, Canada
Date of Visit: December 2003
We just returned from a two week stay at the El Dorado Spa. It was a terrific stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the grounds were attractive, and the ammenities very good. The down sides were small, so I'll mention those first. The gym needed updating. The room was small and some of the equipment did not work. The entertainment was not great and was on a one week rotation, so we saw the better shows twice. The bikes provided by the resort were in rough shape, however we didn't do much cycling so it had no effect on our overall experience. The musty smell in our room surprised us, but it was gone within a day once the room had been used, so don't panic if you notice it!
The positives were much more extensive. The staff and service were as good and probably better than any hotel in North America. They were helpful, courteous, and always had a smile and friendly greeting. The food was very, very good. The Mexican and Italian restaurants produced some of the best meals the 6 members of our party had ever had. There was always one of us who found a particular dish mediocre, but when you are eating 4, 5 , 6+, courses at one sitting there are bound to be ones that don't measure up. We set these aside and loved the next dish. The drinks were spectacular. The bartenders would make any mixed drink you wanted or could think of, the beer was cold and if you were to lazy to get off of your beach chair there was always a staff member asking you if they could get you something.
On calm days (this part of Mexico is pretty windy at this time of year, it keeps you comfortable on the beach!) we snorkelled on the reef right off of our beach. For people from central Canada it was a terrific experience. When we wanted to swim in the surf we walked down the beach for five minutes and found a stretch of sandy shore in a public (and quiet) area. Beach volleyball, ping pong, and tennis kept us busy as well. Each couple in our party took advantage of the mexican ceramic painting available (cheap) to guests and created their own souvenirs.
We loved the location. It was close to Playa del Carmen, it was very close to Xel-ha, Xcaret, and the ruins at Tulum. A recommendation is to do the last 3 on your own by walking to the road and flagging down a local van. It saved us $30 USD/ person on each tour! These sites are at most 20 minutes away.
We would recommend this resort and look forward to going back.

Loved the El Dorado Resort and Plan to Return
By: Anonymous from Tennessee
Date of Visit: September 2003
We stayed 7 nights at the El Dorado Resort and Spa and just fell in love with the place. We are planning a return trip next year and plan to stay longer.
The staff is very polite and attentive. Tipping is appreciated, but not expected. The food is wonderful, especially the Italian Restaurant, La Fontana. The only complaint I have is the coffee was bad. It would be nice to have coffee makers in al the rooms. Since the coffee was so bad to get my morning caffeine I would order a coke and sometmes it took a while to gt a coke in the mornings. Other than that no complaints at all about the El Dorado Resort and Spa.
There are not a lot of organized activites, but we were not looking for that in a resort. We were looking for rest, relaxation and a chance for my husband and I to get to know each other again. El Dorado helped us to realize that we still love each other as much or more than we did when we married 17 years ago. For that we will be forever greatful.
Thank You!!!!

Great Vacation!
By: Anonymous from Dayton, Ohio
Date of Visit: August 2002
We stayed at the El Dorado Resort & Spa for a long-weekend. We were very pleasantly surprised with the size of the rooms and the wonderful snorkeling and colorful fish right on the property. You couldn't ask for a more attentive staff, and the food was wonderful. If you're looking for a romantic getaway to relax and go and your own pace, this is the place. We've already booked another trip to go there again this year--for a longer stay. I've recommended it to several friends.
