EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTING!!
By: Anne / travelgooroo from Fort Wayne indiana
Date of Visit: October 2009
Ok I want to start off by saying I am not a very picky person. I just want people to be aware of the fact that this place does not look at all like the pictures they post on their web-site. One word Photoshop. The service was horrible. I rarely saw a smile on one person in the lobby or the restaurants. The gentlemen that runs the guest services made it seem like he was too good to help anyone and he was pre occupied with being on his cell phone or the computer. The quality of the room was way below average. The furniture was very out-dated and beat up. Little to no decor. The furniture actually had spots of rust coming through the fabric. If you go to the beach make sure you do not forget anything or you will have to climb back up a mountain to get to your room. The restaurant service or lack there of was very disappointing example: I ordered soup at one and it was never brought to me. When I brought it up to the server he said "oh did you order soup"? I said yes he said "ok I will bring it right over". Needless to say I never got it. On another occassion I stood at the beach bar for 10 minutes and was never helped. I actually saw 2 other people walk up next to me and get helped. Keep in mind it was not busy there were only 2 other people at the bar when we finally just walked away. If you buy anything in the gift shop check the receipt. We were over charged what the label price was on everything. Way more bad then good at this place. Now everything outside of the hotel was amazing. We went on the Dunns river falls tour and the tour directors and camera men were amazing examples of Jamaican Hospitality. Also the Hooves horse-back riding was an excellent experience. There were a couple of good things about this Hotel. But do not get excited it is still not worth it. The only things that hold this hotel together are the social directors Miguel and Shellie-ann they were a shining example of the word HOSPITALITY. The other was the food. I have to say the food was the best I have ever experienced. With the exception of room-service. It took 30 minutes to get our food and when we did it was cold. Probably because they had to walk 2 miles to get it to us. When reading other reviews about this hotel that are good.. keep in mind anyone can post even EMPLOYEES and OWNERS.

Paradise on earth!
By: Ruth Madewell from Whidbey Island, Washington
Date of Visit: August 2003
We just got back home yesterday from our trip to Sans Souci. The resort greatly exceeded our expectations. The staff is extremely helpful and attentive. We never had to ask twice for anything. The suites are very large with private balconies. The bathrooms have huge jetted tubs. Every room has A/C which we definitely needed!
There were so many things to do. The first day we went to watersports to see what we would like to sign up and do, the have many activities, we went snorkeling for the first time and it was so amazing. Our guide was John and he showed us some amazing corral reefs and fish! They have water bicyles, sail boats, and kayaks to use on your own.
The food is fabulous. Our first night we ordered Filet Mignon from room service and it was the best I have ever had. Every meal was enjoyable. They offer 24 hours room service which is included. We ate our breakfasts at the Palazinna and they cooked omeletes to order. The Virgin Pina Coladas are so good!! Make sure to buy some wood carvings from Damien on the main beach. He does a beautiful job!
I have never had a more enjoyable vacation experience and I recommend it to everyone.

I want to go back!
By: mike / barbara from Southern United States
Date of Visit: July 2003
Just got back from our 25th wedding anniversary. Had a wonderful time. The employees are great. Everyone goes out of their way to accomodate your wishes. Food was very good - selection was not extensive. Facilities were very nice. The free spa treatments were very enjoyable, although one better make reservations prior to arriving or you might not be able to get a reservation for a few days. This made you have to cram the free treatment into a shorter period of time. The water sports were exceptional. Free scuba diving(even for a beginner),water skiing, sailing, snorkeling.etc. The beaches were small but never crowded. The sand is not very white but was always kept clean. We enjoyed the pools, bars and beach grills. For ANY problems, we asked Ricardo and/or Rachelle and they were quickly addressed. My wife and I are not big into a fast-paced nightlife, however the resort had a perfect combination of live entertainers every night that appealed to us. You felt comfortable sitting and listenig or dancing if you wished. As always, the drinks flowed freely. The resort is going through a renovation, but it did not interfere with our vacation at all.
We will not hesitate to go return as soon as we can save up our pennies. Sans Souci Resort & Spa gives a new meaning to all- inclusive.

Fairytale honeymoon - Nov. 2003
By: Sarah from Ontario, Canada
Date of Visit: November 2002
My husband and I spent a fabulous week at the (then) Grand Lido Sans Souci in November 2002. It was picture perfect. The staff were fantastic and bent over backwards to provide wonderful service. The quality of service, food, facilities, staff were exceptional. For a romantic honeymoon, this resort was nothing short of perfect. We were able to relax and enjoy our own company. We felt that the resort was almost secluded. There was rarely another couple within earshot on the beach. The cleanliness was exceptional. The whole resort was scrubbed clean, the beach groomed, and every piece of litter cleared away before we were even out of bed in the morning. We felt extremely safe - there were security guards all around the property at night, and I never once was concerned.
The food was outstanding - really gourmet fare at the French and the Italian restaurants. Waiters with gloves - greeted by live music at every meal. We felt like royalty.
We especially enjoyed the Jamaican restaurant on the beach. The live, local musicians there were wonderful - we went back 3 out of 7 nights actually. And dining on the beach under the fairy-lit tree was magical.
Unfortuantely I fell ill during my stay and required medical treatment. The nurse on duty and the doctor on call were wonderful. They even brought prescriptions straight to our room, and checked on me every day for the remainder of our stay. Learning that the Jamaican doctor was educated by British university standards was also comforting.
We were disapointed to hear that the resort has changed hands and is no longer a Grand Lido resort. As Canadians, this unfortunately means that it no longer be as accessible to us - it will not be carried by most travel agents.
But we will cherish the memories of that beautiful week for a lifetime.

Beauty and Charm
By: Anonymous from Atlanta
Date of Visit: June 2003
If you are looking for a resort that provides total relaxation with great food and a great staff to pamper you in a beautiful location, then this Jamaican hideaway is just the place.
We were recommended to visit here by friends who had come on a second honeymoon. We had planned our trip for June, but then discovered that the place had changed hands, from SuperClubs to self ownership. We hesitatingly decided to come anyway instead of going to one of SuperClubs other locations, and boy were we glad we did!!
Our experience couldn't have been better. The place is truly beautiful and relaxing. Plus we had great food and the staff was incredibly attentive to our every need. Very, very friendly. The new fitness center was also well-received by my husband. He said it was one of the best he has been to at a resort. We will definitely recommend Sans Souci Resort & Spa to our friends. And, hopefully that road from Montego Bay to Ocho Rios will continue to improve.
