A huge disappointment

We thought we knew what we were getting - small, friendly - touch of 'barefoot luxury'. Be warned - Petit Bacaye is right by a mangrove swamp and as there are no screens at the windows the mosquitos stream in the minute darkness falls (about 5.30pm)There is a mosquito net over your bed, but unless you want to go to bed at 5.30 you will get bitten. The rooms are small and dark and rather claustrophobic at night, although prettily flower decked during the day. The beach looks delightful but the seagrass and mud underfoot make it unpleasant to walk through to get to swimming depth. It's not very clear with quite a lot of debris and looks rather brown than sparkling blue. There is an Information book in your room which is full of Do's and Don'ts and rules and regulations which was unpleasantly reminiscent of Nanny - or a 1950's Blackpool boarding house! We walked out after one night, despite having paid for a week, and went elsewhere rather than have our holiday spoilt.
