The Worst Hotel in the Caribbean!
By: Anonymous from Ontario Canada
Date of Visit: February 2008
This trip was one disapointment after another! To begin, our plane was about 3 hours late, due to weather. When we arrived in the middle of the night, we were put into a room, which did not resemble the room we thought we had booked online. We complained, the a/c did not work, there was no safe, as advertised {we found out later we had to purchase it at the desk}...and there were two doubles instead of two queens or one king sized bed! We were shuffled from room to room in the middle of the night by security who appeared to not understand us at all. We finally settled into what I'd refer to as a 'sub-standard room.' There were no drawers to unpack into, we had to keep clothes in our bags. We did purchase a lock for the safe and put valuables in there. The french doors didn't lock, and there was a mysterious door which was locked on our side which we couldn't get them to tell us where it led to. We found our 4 nights later, in the middle of the night, when new guests got the next room and opened from their side thinking it was a closet!!! I was startled to wake up to a man staning in our room in the dead of night! We had to insist on them putting a dead-bolt on our side of the door. Even better? We discovered that on the bus ride over to the resort, our luggage had been pilfered through. Gifts we had actually brought for the Dominican people, were stolen fromt he side compartments of our luggage! It gets better. There was one pool...not the three advertised, however it was very entertaining, probably the best spot to be as the activity staff were very outgoing and friendly. The buffet was the same day in day out...I ate mostly pasta, bread and fruit for my entire stay as I questioned some of the other prepared foods. The entertained relied upon the guests getting up on stage everynight and participating, there was no such thing as a relaxing show to watch. The poolside shut-down early, and the night club which opened till 2am was a dingy lil tavern. The snacks by the pool side were hotdogs and hamburgs and dried up fries. I did eat a burg the last day there before our flight and regretted it for the next 3 days. I spent the entire flight in the bathroom sick! 2 days in bed at home! The meat was undercooked, and I even question WHAT the meat was! The inclusive activities were a joke! The beach was a 10-15 min. walk away. No 700 metres as advertised. A tractor and wagon took you there, but the beach end designated for this resort was dirty and very untropical! All the nice pictures I took were from a afternoon walk we took to the other end of the beach! We were constantly stalked and harassed by venders the entire time at the ocean. The day we left, our checkout was 1pm, our flight didn't leave till 10pm. We were told to put our luggage into a secure room by the front office until our bus came to take us to the airport. We felt SEMI confident in the fact that they had soooo much security there! A security helped us put our luggage into the room. I am confident that it was also this security guard who kept an eye out that we were a distance away in the pool....who also robbed our luggage for the second time while there!!! My I-Pod and other items were taken!!! I was sooo mad when I discovered that on the plane when I went to listen to some tunes! In fact, they even took the charger for it! Just a further note. While we were there, a young couple had their room robbed and everything was taken! They were blamed for not having purchased a lock for the safe! But what about their luggage and belongings which wouldn't have fit in the safe, that were taken! We went back to our room that night and stayed there...afraid to leave for fear ours would also be robbed! The couple had the room key with them, and the doors were locked at the time of the occurance! One would wonder about how someone got in. I believe the staff at this resort are stealing from the guests!!! We did manage to keep optomistic, and had a good time...mostly in part because the beer was inclusive...without it, I could never have managed to get through and entire week at this resort! By the way. It was Expedia.ca who recommended this sub-standard resort, and over-advertised it to death as being ALOT more then what it actually is! Shame on them. I still am trying for a refund! I'll be going back to Punta Cana next time!!!

Dont do it
By: Damaris Gonzalez from Newyork, N.Y
Date of Visit: September 2006
To make my story short and to the point. I went to this resort because it was recommend by expedia .com. Anyway i was robbed by its employees. The hotel did nothing to reburse me for anyhting and they actually blame me for not ording a safe box. This hotel mean while is so full of security that Bin-laden couldnt even walk through it with out them checking him. MY point the hotel was not friendly and not understanding at all. Futhermore the food was the same hamburger and french fries. And this hotel looks very nice on the internet, but it is actually very small upon arrival. The best thing out of this nightmare was when i got back to N.Y i was remiburse after expedia threating to take them off their site. So beware that what looks good and safe on the internet is not what you get. And very important i am Domicana dont think we are friendly because we smile at you you are being watch.

found the place awful! like a butlins in the caribbean. rooms were not of a very high standard.
Most of the so-called all inclusive facilities either could not be found or were just out of use (ie the jacuzzi, archery, beach volleyball etc etc) and the staff did not go out of their way to help you.
Its NOT on the beach, its a ten minute walk away, though they do have a buggy to go back and forward on - but it was the most un-caribbean beach i could have imagined!
The food was not great either, with only one buffet to eat all your meals in and the pool snack bar (not open all day) had only dried up burgers, hot dogs & chips.
The italian restaurant was nice - but could only be used once a week once you managed to book at reception and was pretty small. The brazilian was okay but the same limitations as the Italian. We went out to Pizza Hut.
The bars were under manned, and there was only the pool bar open the majority of the time (usually with only one barman) the juice bar never opened at all and the swim up bar took you about ten minutes to get served by the same one barman.
The other two bars only opened at night but they werent anything to write home about either.
At the weekend the hotel is open to the Dominican Islanders and you get blitzed by them - everywhere is full, the pool, the buffet, the bars - and all the spanish speakers get served first! Our sons needed other adult tourists to stop them being forced off the pool tables by the new arrivals!
The entertainment - the less said the better. Think Blackpool; karaoke, arm wrestling, pounding music, there was no escape from it. You couldnt even sit by the pool bar in the evening as they took all the chairs away - people were sat on the floor! trying to have a drink & relax.
Liked the Island - did a couple of great trips (outback safari & cayo paraiso) anything to escape from the hotel. Would never go to the hotel again - not after seeing what some of the other hotels around had to offer. Would return to Dominican, but on the East or South side.
