This is a place if you want to experience life in a domincan town and still be close to some of the best remote beaches in dominican republic. The house has a great terrace and view of the bay, is open to the breezes (no glass windows, just slatted doors the whole way along the front of the house) no AC is needed.
You can walk to the small beach of the hotel nearby or travel by car / motorconche to some great beaches like Rincon (my favorite...) You can walk to the local market which has great fruit, vegetables and fresh fish.
It was a little noisy - you could hear music in the evenings, and in february independence celebrations, semana santa (easter) there is a small funfair which generates noise (according to Mario the helpful caretaker of the house). Its not for someone looking for luxury or a exclusive experience - but if you want a pleasant place to experience dominican republic at a reasonable price and avoid the feeling of being a tourist removed from the locals - this is pretty unique. Mario also rents motorbikes just by the house, which we rented to tour the peninsula.

The place is so noisy, impossible to sleep before 2 in the morning and waked up at 6 AM by the local trafic.
While big rain falling, the water is getting inside the house (through the roof and walls).
The system supposed to be here to replace the general power is out of order, it just means no electricity for long périods, anytime during the day and night.
One positive point the person in charge of the house is very heplful and kind.

We loved this place, the view is wonderful, the house is beautifully designed, and in a convenient location. The house has louvered doors all along the front opening to the terrace, and the house gets a good breeze from the hill. The bay beach is down the road (10 minute walk) but the really nice beaches are deserted and accessible by motorbike taxi or car.
Wonderful for independent tourist who can walk to the restaurants, internet access, cafes, boat to the island of caya levantado. There is some noise from the town, mainly music, which didn't bother us, since its everywhere in dominican republic.
